For me definitely the best record of Martinho,
By Oliver "the LION" (Cannes FRANCE) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Maravilha De Cenario (Audio CD)
I discovered this LP, recorded in 75 in the early 80's and love it so much I offered it to sme firends too ! After some "divorces and funeral", this record remained in my list of "looking for release" CD's for quite a long time ! And I get several records of Martinho sometimes approaching or much more easy and commerical!
If you believe that Samba is very repetitive and is to Bossa Nova what Disco or House Music is to Rock, listen to it ! It will bring you in a fantastic trip through Brazil. Tunes sometimes start almost as recitative, the "easy" melodies develop in many variations supported by the growing beat of percussions and bass, followed by the choir, etc... No need to understand Portuguese to appreciate the beauty of the black warm voice of Martinho da Villa |
