Bonnie Prince Billy has such an extensive record catalog it's almost impossible to keep up with it. This record has just flown under most people's radar. Collaborating with Trembling Bells, Will Oldham has created his most distinctive and upbeat record to date. With a much fuller sound than on previous records and more playful melodies and songwriting, something about this music makes him seem free. His vocals alongside the female leadsinger of Trembling Bells creates some great contrast, Overall this is a very cohesive, diverse and powerful record. A welcome addition for an artist who has always made great records. Give this a go!

The new Bonnie record with the Trembling Bells is like he's stumbled into nouveau English punk/folk. But man, he sure knows how to pick obscure female vocalists to sing with. What with Dawn McCarthy, the Pink Nasty, lets not forget the delectable Angel Olsen, and now Lavinia Blackwell. The full-on "Riding" is reminiscent of "Master and Everyone" from "Wilding in the West". If you like the Bonnie man, this is a must buy.

I could listen to this one forever. Pretty much a rock opera about one helluva tragi-comedic train-wreck of a relationship. ...And who hasn't had one of those? The words were penned by one of the Trembling Bells crew, but the Bonnie Prince sings his heart out and the material is very much in the vein of his other work. Great, great stuff -- all beauty and ugliness and pathos and loneliness and heart-wrenching confusion of the real thing!

There's a lot of Bonnie Prince Billy stuff. He's proven capable of volumes in production; not so focused on editing.

This is good. Not among his best. Give it a preview to see if it's what you like in his catalog. Now Here's My Plan and the B-Sides from Time to Be Clear suited me better. If you're a fan of Oldham's lyrics, make sure you preview, too. The titles exceed the material in terms of wit and interest.
