5.0 out of 5 stars legendary classic!!!!
Altho' i'm from England, i spent much of my "youth" searching for musical gems,....here's one of them-SEATRAIN were one hell of a band, Peter Rowan's great songs& vocals, along with Lloyd THE MAN Baskin's superb voice, too!! Richard Green's violin made the band really shine, This, their 2nd. outing, is a real gem-the title cut being a tour de force heck ,the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Sorry to dissent; but it isn't as good as their first
This is this version of Seatrain's second album. Their self-titled albumn is, in my opinion, simply better that this. So I can't give this five stars.

Don't get me wrong. Seatrain is a great group. I bought both of their albumns when they came out in the 70's, and loved them both. The combination of country style lyrics and guitars, with rock elements, and...

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Greatest Unknown Albums From The '70s, June 11, 1999

Saw Seatrain in Philly, 1972. Great album, been a fan ever since. I'd love to have it on CD. I understand from Listening Pleasure that one of the band members lives in the Bay Area and has lots of unsold CD's. Wish he'd put them in play. (pun intended.)

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great old album!, July 17, 1999

This is a great old album! I don't think it's the best one the group did. Their first one, I think the name was just "seatrain" was a far better group of songs. Peter Rowan is still making music and some of his stuff sounds like old seatrain songs. I'd love to find copies of either album, tape or CD.

Don't get me wrong. Seatrain is a great group. I bought both of their albumns when they came out in the 70's, and loved them both. The combination of country style lyrics and guitars, with rock elements, and even some jazzy improvization is unique, creative, and works very well.

But if you are looking for an introduction to Seatrain, go with their self-titled albumn first.

5.0 out of 5 stars 70's country/bluegrass/rock/cowboy be-bop, March 5, 2008

I remember that we used to put this album on at parties, back in the early 70's, and everyone would get up and dance around to Despair Tire. I think this was the very first time, maybe the only time, I ever heard a fiddle played through a Wah-Wah pedal, and it rocks.
Absolutely love the vocals on Mississippi Moon and How Sweet Thy Song. It wasn't until many years later that I realized that Peter Rowan, who I had since come to appreciate on his own, was part of this band. When I listen to this album today, it brings back sweet memories of those carefree days of my youth, and if I close my eyes I can almost see the faces...
