This review is from: March of the Bob Cats (Audio CD)
Modified from Don Mather's review at MusicWeb-International.

The Bob Crosby Band was a co-operative that formed under Bob Crosby's name when Ben Pollock disbanded his organization in 1934. Bandleader in name only, on this record, credited to Bob Crosby, he sings on only the last track! The Andrews Sisters make a guest appearance on track 15 and Marion Mann has the vocal on track 21.

The Bob Cats started out as a band within a band, with their Dixieland style.

The band could afford the best personnel. The arrangements, many written by Bob Haggart, were complex enough to keep the musicians interested, but not so complex that changes to personnel would cause a major disruption.

Arranged Dixieland with room for many improvised solos.

3.0 out of 5 stars strongly dixieland, April 3, 2010

This review is from: March of the Bob Cats (Audio CD)
this collection of the bobcats is predominantly in the dixieland style. i bought this because i loved all the bob crosby tunes i had been hearing lately. they were mainly swing style, which i love. i don't particularly like dixieland except as an occassional change of pace.

if you like dixieland, this would be great for you.
