A good rock CD,
By
This review is from: Marcher Dans Le Sable (Audio CD)
I picked up this album while in France and have not been disappointed. The music is guitar-rock and Gerald de Palmas voice is fantastic. I find myself trying to sing along but my French is a little too rusty. For those looking for an "international" CD, this is probably not it. I could see someone sneaking one of the songs onto an American radio playlist and it would be awhile before anyone noticed it was in French. But if you'd like a good rock CD that happens to be in French, I would totally recommend it.

Great Practice for French students,

I picked up this album on a trip to Paris after hearing samples of the album on FNAC.com. It's been over a year since I took French IV and this album is one of the reasons why I have retained much of my French. DePalmas' style is adult contemporary with an occasional dash of country. He is quite popular in France (Marcher dans le sable was one of FNAC's "meilleurs ventes" for over a year) and won a French "grammy" for "J'en reve encore." "Si Tu Veux" is the easiest song to understand because of it's parallel structure, but I like most of the songs on this album (even if I don't understand every word) because they are so aesthetically pleasing! If you like soft rock (and Uncle Kracker type stuff) and are taking French, get your hands on this album.

We discovered Gerald De Palmas on a trip to Paris in 2002 while shopping in a boutique. We heard the music overhead and had the clerk write down the name. We ran to the nearest music store and bought this CD. It has been and will remain one of my all time favorites. I have purchased it for many friends and they have all loved it as well. De Palmas has other CDs, but I think this one is the best.

Denverite living in Paris ... love this album,

I first heard this album in December 01 at a bar in Rouen. I asked the bartender for the name and went out and bought it. It's a great, mostly upbeat album with - believe it or not - a neat pedal steel sound on some of the tracks. Pedal steel is one of the reasons I like old Steely Dan and it works very well on this CD. Don't worry about the French - mine is awful - you'll love it anyway.

I highly recommend this cd to anyone, french-speaking or not. I think De Palmas is extremely talented and there isn't a single song on this cd that I don't love. This is one of the few cds of mine that I listen to all the time, and one of my all-time favorites. You won't be disappointed!

I lived in France this past year, and this was the first French music I actually liked. And, you don't have to know French to appreciate it either. For those of you out there that might know French, the lyrics are wonderful and the music is upbeat, fun, just plain good. I highly recommend this album to anyone interested in adding a little French to their music cuisine!

Yes! I wore this CD out as the DJ at French camp, although cabin cleanings were mostly reserved for Mylene Farmer (another great French singer). The songs on this CD is really good, and he's pretty cute too!D
