A simple yet wonderful read-aloud storybook about the joy of winter,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Marco Flamingo (Paperback)
Marco Flamingo is a softcover children's picturebook about an anthropomorphic flamingo who is so curious about a mysterious thing other birds call "snow" that he decides to migrate north for the winter! And when he arrives in a snowy place, he enjoys all the great things one can do with it - making snow angels, skating, skiing, snowballs, ice fishing, and more. He finally sends a postcard to his flamingo friends back home. Marco Flamingo is a simple yet wonderful read-aloud storybook about the joy of winter.

We absolutely loved this book! The illustrations are beautiful and made us laugh. Marco has a personality that just jumps out at you both from the words and the illustrations. We can't wait until the next book and we hope Marco keeps on exploring the world so we can enjoy him!

Impeccable Detail,
This review is from: Marco Flamingo (Paperback)
I read this book with my 3-year old Granddaughter. We both really enjoyed the story. It's not too long and very positive. The illustrations are impeccable. Thank you Sheila. We look forward to reading your next book.

great picture book for younger readers,

This review is from: Marco Flamingo (Hardcover)
I loved this book about a curious flamingo desperate to learn more about the mysterious world of snow. When Marco is no longer satisfied with the explanations provided by thos birds who flew south for the winter, he decides the only way to learn about snow is to go see some himself.
The story is funny and light, and the illustrations are magnificent. The bright colors and animated faces are bound to keep younger readers interested- I especially enjoyed the surprise illustration at the end of the book. My mom is a Kindergarden aide and is looking forward to bring this book into school to read to her class at storytime. I would say that the "ages 9-12" recommendation on this page should read "ages 3-6" instead.

This is a cute little book about a flamingo who decides to be migratory and go north for the winter. The story is rather simplistic, but the illustrations are full of color and life, although the expressions on the birds can get a bit too cartoony at times.
