NECA Gears of War Marcus Fenix Series 2 Action Figure (Added Articulation!)

Pros:

-No balance issues. Stands well on his own

-The sculpt is faithful to the character's design in-game

-Comes with rifle and pistol

-Durable. So far, I've had no breaks or cracks whenever I've accidentally knocked him over from tables or shelves

Cons:

-His rifle doesn't seem to fit that well in his hands. In the picture shown, his left hand is supposed to be holding the forestock. Unfortunately, I can't seem to place his hand under there. I'm sure I could apply some force, but I don't want to risk snapping his fingers off (can any owners out there reading this give me some tips?)

-Not as much articulation as I would have liked. As I said previously, this figure comes with an extra firearm. You certainly CAN equip him with his pistol, however, he just looks awkward because you can't alter his posing more than a few degrees.

-The paint job is shoddy in certain areas of his ears and face

-Face appears to have cracks, particularly half the left side of his nose. I'm well aware the character has scars and wrinkles in game (as does this figure), but one of the lines appears to be an honest to god crack. I guess they went a little too far in production?

-No place to holster pistol

For those of you still on the fence (particularly big Marcus Fenix fans like me), I'd recommend this figure. I'm pleased with my purchase!

The toy looks beautiful, the detail is great. The second I took it out of the package though (yes I take mine out of their packaging) and tried to mount the gun, his arm fell off. It didn't simply detach either, the joint actually broke in half and I barely moved it at all. I managed to putty it back together, putting aside the fact that it now has NO value even outside of the package. When I tried a second time part of the gun broke off and a little piece of hit armor.

Again, I was not rough with it, so I don't know if recieved a faulty product or if it is cheaply made, but if you don't mind having to deal with this stuff than the toy looks great, but it reall isn't worth more than [...] is its gonna fall apart the second you look at it...

Kinda dissapointing...

I ordered this a couple of days after Christmas, and It took a while to ship. I had read the reviews that said it wasn't that durable, but I got it because it was purely for display, and I wasn't paying $20 for a display. It finally came in the mail today, and it has held up perfectly. I was very gentle with it, (Because the bad reviews got me scared) and it hasn't shown a sign of weak durability. This thing has some of the best detail since The Lord of the Rings lines from back in 03 and 04. It was totally worth the $12 (including shipping) I spent on it. Don't listen to the other reviews, your safe as long as your careful. 5/5

This toy broke the very first day my son had it. He took it out of the box and the arm broke off with in minutes. He was so heartbroken as he had saved his own money to purchase the item. Very disapointed.

I personaly thought that the price was a good price.....when i bought it was on sale...i got it for 10$ including shipping.....when i got it i took it out of the package tried to mount the lancer and the arms feel clear off....they snapped at the joints.....i dont get it...but i guess thats wat i get for buying it cheap.....what ever....be weary of buying it...also...i had prblems with the upper thigh articulation...the left leg was jammed and wouldnt move at all...it was stuck in one position.....when you order it...be careful and cautious so this doesnt happen to you

... maybe they don't realize pulling a heavy duty figure like these out of a package by its arm (which would be against its joint, thus hyper extending it, of COURSE it broke when you did that... lol). The new Marcus doesn't have a ton of extra articulation, but they had to call it something to make people realize it was improved, and it very much is. All they really did was throw in some extra joints in the arms, but those extra joints make it very easy to get his rifle into his hands, his left hand around the barrel near the chainsaw slot and its looks awesome. Marcus looks like he's ready to tear apart some Locusts. But my figure is sturdy as a Brumak. I've enjoyed all of these figures from NECA tremendously. But word of advice, never drag something heavy by its weakest point to take it out of very secure packaging... and especially don't whine and blame the figure or the company when you do. Grab the body, where its solid. Lol...

This toy was meant to be a collectors item and when I recieved the package it was damaged so I had to open it and buy another one from a different vendor

I had just pulled out of the box and broke his arm, articulation are not easy to move. the toy is very fragile

At first I was a little apprehensive about this figure due to so many people complaining about problems with it but when it arrived I couldn't have been happier. I am a huge Gears of War fan and avid figure collector, this Marcus Fenix figure definitly improved on both of those hobbies.

My Marcus Fenix had absolutely no integrity issues. None of the limbs fell off and none of the paint was damaged. At first the shoulder joints were a little stiff but that changed easily enough. A lot of people complained about not being able to pose it very well, I had no problem posing this figure at all. The added articulation was very handy, I was able to put him in many different poses common for Marcus in the games. None of the other joints game me any problems, nothing broke when I tried to move them. I had no difficulty whatsoever placing the gun in his hands, albiet he can't really hold the assault rifle one handed that well but he holds it with both hands very well and in different poses (he stands at ease easily and in a ready-fire position). Some have said that they have had problems with getting him to hold the pistol and someone even said that he can't hold it at all. This is completely untrue I've had absolutely no problem at all with him holding the pistol either at ease or in a firing position.

The paint and detailing is amazing, no flaws whatsoever and the detail on Marcus's face and armor is incredible. The gritty look they gave his armor was a great idea. Both the assault rifle and pistol are greatly detailed and the blood spatter on the chainsaw bayonette is a very nice touch. All in all a very well put together figure, then again I've come to expect this from NECA since only two of the figures I've recieved from them had any flaws (my series 1 jack Sparrow had a damaged arm as did my Order of the Phoenix Ron) but out of the dozens of NECA figures I've purchased I expected many more of them to have flaws. I'm very greatful for the attention to detail that NECA puts into their video game and movie character based figures. I am very pleased with NECA.

I understand that others who have bought this figure had issues with them (broken limbs, damaged paint, ect.) but I suffered none of thise problems. I would highly recommend this figure to any fan of Gears of War or action figures in general. You simply have to be prepared for whatever might happen, just because a few of these figures have issues don't mean that all of them will. So, if you're willing to make a decission for yourself and not let others influence you then I say buy this figure, buy all of the Gears if you can and have a blast all you gear heads out there!

I freakin waited so long for this toy and yes in the packaging it looked very nice but when I took it out I was perfectly careful but when I put the lancer on the arm fell off(both arms fell off)so what I did was just simply put it back in the packaging for display.





VERY disappointed.
