There are several high points to this set and only a few minor drawbacks. First, the set looks cool and has an appealing design. The dark grey color along with the chrome bars and the black plastic weight cuffs look good. It comes with it's own bar which is about 7 inches shorter than a regulation 7' Olympic bar. This was a surprising benefit because it takes less room than I had anticipated. On the downside, the bar is rated to only 300 pounds. This should be plenty for me as I try to get back in shape, but I could see it being limiting for someone in good shape, especially for squats where it isn't hard to get past 300 pounds. As far as the Smith machine component, the hooks work well and are fairly easy to hook in and out without too much effort as long as you have both sides at the same height as there is some travel between the left and right if you are not keeping the bar balanced.
The bench feels solid and works well for bench and military press. At 6'4, I'm unable to use the leg extension as my legs are too long. I'm planning to put a weight under the end of the bench to see if that gives me enough clearance, but haven't tried it yet. The preacher curl pad has a similar issue. My arms are long enough that when I lower the weight, my hands hit the leg pad which prevents a full range of motion. On the flipside, the set comes with a handle that converts the leg raise component into a back pull which works extremely well.
Overall, I think at $400 this is a really great set. It takes far less room than other Smith machines, is able to handle a myriad of main-stream exercises, and the price is great. I would recommend for anyone other than the most athletic who would probably need a set that can handle more weight.

I just purchased this Smith machine and Utility bench combo through Amazon. I also incorporate dumbbells exercises in conjunction with this machine. For this reason, I like that the bench is not fixed so you can pull it away from the tower/ smith machine section.

Pros:
- Directions are easy to follow, very well packaged
- Feels solid during use, well made for the price range
- For a large machine it does not take up a huge amount of floor space
- Ability to perform a variety of exercises with the setup.
- Tower has areas for plate storage. When loaded these also help to keep the machine more stable.

Cons:
- There is some play between the guide runners between the left and right rails of the Smith portion which causes the bar to catch if not held evenly.
- The bar sleeves (to allow for Olympic sized plates) are plastic.

So far I am happy with the purchase. I will be spraying gun oil or a similar lubricant on the rails to help reduce the friction of the bar guides. Overall, this is a good quality machine for the price and I see no reason why I wouldn't get a few years of reliable service out of it.

UPDATE 2/2/13:
I have continued to use this machine almost daily since its purchase last year. I found that the sticking rail guides can be remedied by spraying WD40 along them every few weeks to reduce friction. This is great for a squat or bench rack, even after slamming hundreds of pounds on it everything still holds together fine. I no longer use the smith portion, as I found it inhibits a good bit of movement and I have pulled the entire machine off the floor during shrugs if there was no additional weights racked in the tree holders. Still four stars for cost and build quality.

Good product, but the bench is to low, when you do the leg exercises your feet hit the bottom frame and I'm only 5'8" otherwise I reallylike it.
