I chose this bench so that it could help accommodate standard bars/plates, and it accommodates both standard and Olympic! (With the 2 inch Olympic adapters).
For the longest time I have used dumbbells for chest presses and squats, and as I increase the weight on the dumbbells, the more susceptible to injury I have become, since I do not usually have spotters. This bench allows me to progress with the chest presses and squats.
I also liked that it could hold 600lbs (300lbs user, 300lbs crutch). I can see myself outgrowing this, but in the meantime, this is fine for me, and I feel it can hold more than 300lbs.
As far as what kind of bars it holds, I have a 6 foot (72 inch) standard bar and it fits the bench snugly. When I have standard plates on it, it does tend to hit the catchers. I've actually had to adjust the catchers since, during the pressing movements, it would go against the longer safety catchers. I think an Olympic bar is more suited for this bench than standard, since the plates would not be so close to the catchers.
The leg developer (leg extension, lying leg curls), is more effective for me than a dedicated body solid leg developer that I have, and I think that is because of my height (5"5). My feet are able to plant to the ground just fine with this bench, and it is plenty tall enough so that I can perform proper squat movements.Read more ›
The bench itself is very sturdy and well constructed. Putting it all together was very simple and took about an hour and a half with two people.
You can do 6 different exercises with the bench:
-Preacher Curls (When preacher curl pad is attached)
-Incline Bench Presses
This is the perfect bench for any young guy who doesn't have a lot of money and is looking for an affordable and sturdy weight bench to do a simple workout routine with.
The box weighed 109 pounds. I was impressed with the packaging because every piece was in its own plastic bag. It took me 20 minutes to unbox everything, cut and roll up the cardboard and plastic for the trash. Overall it took 2 hours 40 minutes to put together reading everything and taking my time. I applied Tri-Flo Lubricant and/or Lithium Grease to areas that I thought could use it while putting it together.
Damage (Scratches, Scuff Marks):
The Backrest Board has a small tear on it just above the embroidered company logo; Someone put hot-glue on the tear. There are several scratches and scuff marks towards the top of both (left and right) upright beams; It's possible someone else owned this and returned it; It looks like a barbell could of hit up against it causing those scratches and scuff marks. Today I called the number in the manual and they are sending me a brand new Backrest Board and two brand new left and right upright beams [Contacting them was fast and simple]. I took 4 photos; When I tried uploading the 4 photos it only puts 1 of the photos [The other 3 photos showed the tear in the Backrest Board and scratches and scuff marks on the two upright beams]. There are also some scratches and scuff marks on the front of the Front Post. Everything 'else' looks brand new. Mine must have been a returned item.
Tightening The Bolts:
I noticed I was not able to tighten the bolts tight because the metal used is not thick enough to prevent bending; So tightening the bolts was bending the metal everywhere; So I had to just tighten the bolts snug as I could without bending the metal too much everywhere there were bolts.Read more ›

Very sturdy, quality bench. We've had it for two years now and my son had gotten a lot of use out of it. He uses it with Olympic weights and an 8 foot bar. No complaints at all.Published 9 days ago by Dachshaus
