MP3 arrived a couple of hours ago and has few disappointments.

I first heard Marcy Playground's Sex and Candy a couple of years ago and was instantly intrigued. (Not a fan of commercial radio, I missed this late-90s mega-hit). Later, I ran across St. Joe on the School Bus, also several years past its release. I liked Wozniak's voice, his lyrics, and the general sound of his music, which I would describe as light rock or adult alternative. Based on these experiences, I decided to order the reissue of MP3, which was first released in 2004.

I cannot say why this group is still described as "one hit wonders." Their music is infectious and most of their lyrics are outstanding. Brand New Day offers straightforward advice on surviving those problems that cannot be solved. Blood in Alphabet Soup, Deadly Handsome Man and Punk Rock Superstar are all humorous and musically appealing. Spoonfed, No Ones Boy and Sleepy Eyes all have worthwhile messages. I keep getting lost in the bluesy Barfly and still haven't heard the lyrics...

If you missed out on this cd the first time around, I recommend buying it.

It continues to amaze me that whenever I mention Marcy Playground to anyone they always think they are a one-hit-wonder. Actually it saddens me more than it amazes me. The most under-appreciated, under-respected band in the world. Yeah, that's right! I wish there was a way for me to play this record and their other two(they are all amazing)over loudspeakers so the whole world could hear what an amazing band this is. I hope they never stop making records, I'll buy every one and rock them loud.

This is my new favorite CD! Some of the titles crack me up! My favorite song is Blood in Alphabet soup. Some of their music really reminds me of the popular Nirvana songs with a little less edge. Great CD that is consistent through out. It is a CD that you want to own rather than just listen to a couple songs. Highly recommended!!

If you liked either of their other albums you'll like this one as well. This is a great song writing and performing band.
