Could be a lot better with heavy rubber bands.,

I've owned two of these and neither one lasted very long. When they first came out they were very well made of aluminum, a real quality product. When the tension wire broke I called the factory and they said no problem send it in to get it fixed. They sent back one made of plastic which lost all weight tension within weeks, its worthless. The problem with this product is that it starts losing tension immediatlely, the spring gets weakened with use. A better product would be with heavy duty rubber bands that you could replace or add to for more resistance. Put the rubber on and I'll buy it again but will do wrist curls with weights until then. They only people who buy this is weight trainers or the injured and they don't care about how it looks just if it works.

Two years ago, I tore one of the transverse ligaments in my wrist playing racquetball, which was the unfortunate combination of a dusty court, 200 pounds of player moving about 15 miles an hour, a poorly timed forehand and very hard wall.
I had two surgeries to repair the injury, and it was mostly successful. The biggest side effect has been weakness in my injured wrist and hand. I have moved beyond squeezing toys and putty, but I lacked the strength to do weight training. This device has been a tremendous breakthrough for me. I have been able to make some rapid gains in my strength without risking injury with weights. I am already seeing the difference in just two weeks. If you are recovering from surgery such as carpal tunnel or other wrist related injuries, I strongly recommend making this device part of your recovery plan. Of course, check with your doctor and/or physical therapist before starting up a new exercise.

I bought one of these years ago. It was made of metal and very heavy duty. You could adjust the tension to very difficult. After a decade, it finally died. I bought this new replacement model. It is light, plastic, and not as substantial. Also, you can't adjust it to the degree that my earlier model would allow. So I have to do many more reps to get to that point of exhaustion. But no one else makes one like this, so what are you going to do?

It works good for a little while but my forearms got too just to the fifth level so now i have to do like fifty in a row to get a burn. No i am not a tough guy its just that i think that there should be higher levels atleast to ten. Other than that it works really good. My arms definitely got stronger using it.

This machine will build up your forearms, but its movement is not very fluid. Weider makes a similar device that i like more. If you are serious about working out your whole arm look into a product made by Ivanko. It is 30 times more adjustable and will grow with you. I highly recommend the Ivanko ProductIVANKO Super Hand Gripper Hand Strength Forearm

acceptable but not worth the price,

the resistance isn't enough for a really strong person or someone who has been working out for a couple of years. it is ok for a beginner or a recreational athlete. and it is definitely overprices. you can make your own forearm exerciser in the house with a bath towel and some paperweights.

Forearm Exerciser,

Great machine, but, the spring in the machine has already begun to weaken.
I suggest a stronger spring.

Somewhat pleased with complaints,
This review is from: Marcy Wedge For Forearm and Wrist (Sports)
I was going to do a video review, but don't think is an often bought item. Let me start by saying, I did not buy this as a rehab tool for an injury. I just bought it to see if it would give me a good forearm workout, since I've been popping and cracking my wrists for nearly 15 years with wrist barbell curls.
I'm no small man, at 6-3 255, this little device would barely fit around my forearm, which is the first complaint. There is absolutely no give here, it either fits or it doesn't. I would imagine for the average 5-10 180 pound man, that this would work fine, but it was very tight on my forearm and even left red lines. Second complaint, the little wire that moves when you use it broke within a month of buying it. Again, this is probably because I do believe this is made more for the average man, not for someone who is a serious strength athlete. The highest level of resistance was at best, average, for me. And it was on the highest level that I broke it. Maybe I could offer a tip to others, if you hear it clicking really bad, it is about to break! Overall, I will give it a 3 for being a good forearm workout, but do not buy this if you are a serious weightlifter/powerlifter. If you do, you will hear it clicking. I would compare the highest tension setting to doing dumbbell wrist curls with 40 pounds. I would recommend this product for those who have injuries and even more so for teens who play competitive sports. This would be a great workout for a high school baseball player to build wrist strength to whip the bat when hitting. I guess I will keep waiting for Gripmaster to make an XXXX-Heavy Duty version of their grip builders.

For anyone who wants good grip strength or is even recovering from carpal tunnel or broken wrist, these things are AWESOME. There is nothing like it anywhere.
Its true the older one seemed more substantial but it also was clunky. It lasted for years and when it broke, I replaced it with the new plastic one. It works fine, just a little different. Try and exercise your wrists back and forth between arms for awhile curling your wrist and reversing it also. See how long you can take the burn. These work just fine !

Marcy Wedge Review,

I have had a Marcy Wedge for wrist and forearm exercise for years, and have used it religiously to make my wrists and forearms stronger for my golf game. It is still as good today as it was the day I orederd it, which is saying something in today's world of throwaway products. I swear by it. I have shown it to physical therapists who also thought it was a very good product to help people with wrist and forearm injuries. One of my students (I teach golf) is a Gastroenterologist who performs endoscopys all day long, 5 days a week, and experiences wrist and forearm pain and tiredness had me get him one, and he says it helps him a lot by making his wrists and forearms stronger and giving him exercise. I ordered another one for myself at the same time so I could exercise both arms at the same time, thereby saving myself time in the exercises and
getting the same benefits. In my opinion, it is one of the best products I have ever bought. |
