SAVE YOUR MONEY, June 27, 2007
I would have selected 0 stars but it was not a choice.
My husband had purchased the Margarator for me during the winter in preparation for opening the pool in the spring. I am the person that is in charge of refreshments whenever we entertain and he thought this would be helpful in saving me trips back and forth to the kitchen because it is so large and self storing.
I have now UNSUCCESSFULLY used the item 3 times and have disappointed over a dozen guests that were hoping for a refreshing slushy drink by the pool. After my first unsuccessful attempt, I had my husband read the directions that I had read. He set up the machine the same way that I did, filling the ice to the Max line, adding the 2.5 cups of Tequila mix and the bottle of margarita mix. We even pre-crushed the ice cubes to try and help it out. Again, after 12 minutes of letting it run, it produced 1/2 cup of slush that would come out of the nozzle and the rest was trapped inside with large pieces of ice.
So the third time we chopped up the ice more, added extra fluid to try and help it AND shut if off and stirred with a wooden spoon occasionally. Same results as the previous 2 times. So we yet again scoop out the ice chunks, jam a straw into it and hand it to our disappointed guests.
Because he bought this in the winter, I can no longer return it to the store that he ordered it from. Do we have the receipt - NO. I am willing to pay to ship this back to the Hellman Group - NO. We have wasted enough money on mixes and alcohol alone.
I am EXTREMELY annoyed and disappointed with the malfunction of this product, as are all my parched guests. Am I willing to try it yet again? Thats what the Hellma Group asked me to do after I contacted them. They suggest that I try it with pepsi, full of ice with 1/2 the liquid mix..let it run for 5-8 minutes then add the rest of the mix.
Guess what...it did not work. The margartor will take its place next to the garbage can in its original box for all to see as they drive by this weekend.

Ready To Party!, September 7, 2007
Very simple machine to operate. Despite the instructions to assemble, the machine was already to plug in and go. Since the machine comes with an instruction to wash indicating each machine is tested prior to sale, this would explain the pre-assembly.
Dump, turn on and pour and you have a perfect drink or slushy. The kids use it to make fun slushies and the adults use it for adult drinks.
Very quick, it only takes 6-8 mintes and you get about 6 large party drinks. I am very impressed.

great idea,many design flaws, July 6, 2007
Margaratorthe 1st 2 times we used this machine it worked great!, wonderful margaritas for our party guests.... Well on the third use, the plastic collar on the grinding cage broke. The manufacturer was very helpful and sent out a replacement. Then the motor burned out!!!!! (it does take more like 1/2 hr to make the margaritas.) This was during our party so we dashed out to our local walmart to get another machine, so as not to disappoint our guests. This worked well, a great time was had, until the second time we used it a few weeks later, the plastic collar broke again!!!. We returned this machine, and thought we'd give it another try, the new machine worked for 20 minutes, then the motor went kaput!!....so, back to the store we went, exchanged it one more time!......same result, motor died after an hour!!!! (we gave this product more than a fair chance!) we finally sent the one 'on line' purchased machine back ($99) and our store bought machine was returned, out of 4 machines none of them worked consistently, and they were expensive. Great idea (when it works) poor design, Hellman group keep trying, maybe a new design will work better?........I do not recommend this product at the present time July 2007
