4.0 out of 5 stars Easily the best life of Margaret Tudor I've read, March 9, 2008

This review is from: Margaret Tudor, Queen of Scots (Hardcover)
Margaret Tudor, from history's perspective, is one of the pivotal members of the Tudor dynasty. The current royal family owe their claim to English royal blood through Margaret's marriage into the Scottish royal family. Despite her rather strife filled life she's not a lady who has merited much in the way of biographies - partly because she wasn't considered "nice" or "good" by the Victorians and she failed in her attempt to rule in a viable regency for her son in the aftermath of the Flodden defeat.

Margaret's story in part can be found in other books such as "The sisters of Henry VIII" and "Tudor Cousins" but it looses something in being submerged into too many other people's stories. This book maintains its focus well and provides a lot of information you won't find in any other biography about Margaret. It's not an easy book to find now days but if you want to read a well written and researched life of this often forgotten royal lady this is a book you should take the time to find.
