5.0 out of 5 stars Don't know about margaritas, but this is a great slush maker!, February 13, 2010

This review is from: Margaritaville DM900 Battery-Powered Frozen-Concoction Maker (Kitchen)
I bought this machine to make non-alcoholic versions of daiquiris and margaritias and discovred that this is one heck of a slush maker as well! The consistency of the drinks that this machine makes is like a frozen coke consistency and the machine works very quickly and easily. The machine is also very easy to clean after use. I am able to get three full batches of drinks from one batch of ice from my refrigerator's automatic ice maker. The automatic feature shaves ice and blends perfectly. This is the third "smoothie" type machine that I have had and the only one that works like it is supposed to. The battery charges well and so far I have made 15 batches of drinks without a recharge.

This will definitely be nice on hot summer nights on the deck!

Not only does this product have a WOW factor, but it works hard all day mixing everyones favorite drinks on just on charge! Self contained and easy to clean, make this a must have for boaters.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING, September 17, 2010

This machine far exceeded my highest expectation. A few months ago I was given the plug-powered version as a gift and was blown away by its quality. Then I found out that Margaritaville made this battery-powered version! I knew I just had to have it for my pontoon boat and travel... it did not disappoint. It had just as much ice crushing power as the other and I couldn't be happier. I just wish I had it at the beginning of summer! A must have for any "tiki bar" enthusiast like myself. I highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the boat!, May 26, 2010
This review is from: Margaritaville DM900 Battery-Powered Frozen-Concoction Maker (Kitchen)
In the search for a good 12 volt blender for the boat (there isn't any), I come across the Margaritaville Explorer. While more than I wanted to spend, it has lived up to it's expectations.

You simply pour the mix, for 1 to 3 drinks, in the picture, put the ice up top, turn the knob to how many drinks you want, and push the button. It does the rest for you. A perfectly blended margarita.

This machine is loud, but not a bunch louder than any other quality blender.

Also, if you don't put in enough mix, the blender/mixer may not pull down the ice on the top requiring you to spoon mix it. This is not a problem if you mix properly.

I've made 7 pitchers over the course of 4 days so far with no re-charge and it is just as powerful on the 7th pitcher as on the 1st.

For the price, the should have included the optional carrying case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the outdoor adventures..., October 19, 2010

My Fiancee and I had been looking at Margaritaville makers for a long time. We'd been tossing around the idea of getting one, but hadn't because they are a bit pricy. So, while on Vacation in Salt Lake City we stopped into a store (titled 'the Table' but in French) just too look around, and we found ourselves staring at one of these units in the 'Clearance' area. It was not in the box, so we figured something was missing, or it was the display model, etc. An associate came to assist us and was showing the unit to us when she said "This one, and the one behind you in the box are the last two". We turned, and sure enough - one in the box, never opened. We got it for $150!!

Now, we are campers, boaters, BBQers, etc., so this was a PERFECT unit for us. One charge lasted us numerous camping trips, including 4th of July where we made quite a few while on the lake for the fireworks. I would say approx. 75-80 times before it needed a charge.

We've used it for all sorts of frozen drinks, 'leaded' and 'unleaded'...and they've all turned out pretty good. In fact, we use it often with the Jamba Juice smoothy mixes you get from the frozen isle and the store, and they turn out pretty good. (We add a bit more apple juice than they recommend).

All in all we are EXTREMELY happy with this unit. We are looking to get the hard-case to carry it - will make it much easier to transport from the camper to the boat, to the tailgate, etc.

If you like frozen drinks on the go, and there's no power to plug in - this unit is the PERFECT solution!

4.0 out of 5 stars fun, June 7, 2010

Makes a great drink, but it is vey heavy and it takes up alot of room. If you're tailgating and staying in one place, it's great. A little cumbersome for the boat.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!!!, December 11, 2010
This review is from: Margaritaville DM900 Battery-Powered Frozen-Concoction Maker (Kitchen)
We love this thing! We have brought out on the boat and camping in the summer and to tailgate parties all year long. The battery lasts and lasts. The battery life does suffer a little in the cold (but the it was freezing temps out before the football game). It is also an attention getter, lot's of people stop to ask about it. The option to manually bend and chop is great to be able personalize your drinks. It is so simple to use it is great.

The only thing that would make it better would be the option to also plug it in. (Just when the temps drop at football games and the battery gets cold -but remember it was like 14 degrees outside, and it still worked).

Not sure if you really need the salt and lime kit but the carry bag is a definite plus - makes it so mobile you really get more out of it. All the parts (blender, battery, charger, salt and lime kits, and depending on how much liquid your packing you can even get that in there.

We usually have stuff to make margaritas and daiquiris - traditional mix and strawberry mix, rum, and tequila - and you are good to go, of course you can also use to make other drinks and even virgin drinks

I was a little reserved about spending so much for a blender, but after getting it I can say it is well worth it. The quality of margaritas is amazing as is the battery life. We spent a weekend camping on the beach and it was really great to pull out the maker and have frozen margaritas right there on the beach. Very cool!

We are avid campers and tailgaters and needed another toy for the collection. I've purchased two battery operated blenders over the years, and neither has lasted more than a couple of outings. Tried the Margaritaville maching at home last night and it worked great. Very well built with a power tool level battery. The drinks came out great the first try.
If you are ever at a Ducks game and hear the sound of a blender, look us up!

Easy to use, best Margarita recipe included, have tried many other drink recipes and they are also great, easy to clean, impressive, mixes fresh fruit in with your drinks with no problems, and the best parts are that the battery charges super fast and you can take this machine anywhere.
