Book Description

This edition remains encyclopaedic in scope and includes both imaging and intervention. More emphasis is given to clinical and radiological findings in this edition. New imaging technologies like CT, ultrasound and MRI are more fully integrated within the text as is interventional radiology for diagnosis and therapy. The 112 chapters in this edition are divided into 16 parts. The book begins with anatomy and physiology of the alimentary tract and then proceeds down the "tube" through the pharynx, oesophagus, stomach, duodenum, small bowel, colon and miscellaneous disorders of the GI tract. Then associated organs, such as pancreas, biliary tract, liver, spleen, peritoneum and retroperitoneum are discussed. Finally general aspects of paediatric gastrointestinal radiology, interventional abdominal radiology, the acute abdomen and abdominal trauma are covered. Each organ-specific system begins with a description of normal anatomy and appropriate imaging techniques before moving on to detailed disease specific chapters.
