5.0 out of 5 stars I have been searching for this for years!, October 1, 2003
This review is from: Maria Elena / Always in My Heart (Audio CD)
Like one of the previous reviewers, I was introduced to this wonderful music through my father. We had a Scott stereo system at home with Tannoy speakers - and this music is some of my most favourite. I had the honour of seeing their farewell concert at Massey Hall in Toronto in the fall of 1979, and I cried all the way through it. I have looked for their recordings in CD's for years, and am happy at last to be able to purchase them. Is "Casually Classic" no longer available? How sad - it was one of their best. I danced to "Maria Elena" with my father at my wedding - it remains one of my most cherished moments. These artists will not pass our way again - do yourself and your CD collection a favour, and buy them - today.

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding compilation, February 28, 2001

This is an outstanding compilation of Los Indios Tabajaras. There are no words to describe accurately the talent of these Brazilian guitar virtuosos. If you are looking for the very best Latin American strings, this is certainly it. But even if you agree that this album is excellent, another album, Casually Classic, is way above perfection. I am not exaggerating; those of us who have been lucky enough to have listen to Los Indios' Casually Classic will never forget the experience. That's the only time in my life that an art form has given me goose-bums all over my body and has made me shed tears. What is it in their performance that is so sublime and soul-touching?? I guess I'll never know. Lamentably, this rare recording is no longer available but it certainly exemplifies the level of beauty of their music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forever Los Indios Tabajaras, August 18, 2002
By
This review is from: Maria Elena / Always in My Heart (Audio CD)
Back in the early 60's, if you had a stereo pickup (which was the latest technology of sound reproduction at that time), one of the LP you must have is "Always in my heart". This LP together with Enoch Light's "Persuasive Percussion" (please also see my review on this one) is what we call today as demonstration disc for HI FI system. Fortunately, my father was able to have a stereo pickup at that time, so I could enjoy the music of the Los Indios Tabajaras in my childhood. This CD comprised of two albums, Maria Elena which brought fame to the Los Indios Tabajara in the U.S.A. and the follow up "Always in my heart" which was a best seller around the world. I love their music, so I bought this CD even though I have already had the "Always in my heart" CD (which is only available in Hong Kong ) and a BMG Ariola Express budget CD titled "Romantic Serenades". This is the kind of music that you will never get tired of, especially all the tracks originally in the "Always in my heart" LP (track 13-24 of this CD) which are indispensable. Just for your information, after listening to this reissue by Collectables Records, I noticed that the master of the Hong Kong "Always in my heart" CD is used, which is not the original master tape from RCA, I don't know whether RCA still has the original in its vault.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hauntingly Beautiful, August 3, 2000

I have listened to "Los Indios" for more than 30 years. As a guitar player of 40 years myself, I can appreciate the skill required to make this type of music so beautiful. Nato, the lead player, sure does make that Del Vecchio resonator guitar sing in a way that is very difficult to imitate. He is equally masterful of the nylon string guitar (as heard in "Maria Elena"). Listening to these guys is the reason I have searched for and purchased a Del Vecchio guitar (a four year quest). If you like romantic/pop/carribean/South American/ music....you will love this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Masters of the Guitar, June 23, 2002

I must have all of the LP albums of 'THE INDIANS'but, my favorite is CASUALLY CLASSIC and I agree with the other review of the gentleman from Ecuador, that this is the best recording that they had put together.
I have never seen them perform in person, but would have traveled 500 miles to see them do their thing.
I still have the LP 'CASUALLY CLASSIC' and it still sounds good even if I might have played it 5000 times or more.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best guitar players ever! Exotic and haunting, November 9, 1999

I've been listening to Los Indios for over 20 years. I have all there albums from way back then. I was thrilled to see the CDs were available - I ordered Serie Platino and was going to order the others only to find out that most of the songs were on all the other albums. That's too bad because most people don't want to buy an album for one or two songs. But don't let that deter you. They are so easy on the ear that you can't turn them off. My husband and I go to sleep with the music at least 4 nights a week. I'm not good at explaining any technical terms, but I just know what I like when I hear them and I love their music!

I too heard the LP Maria Elena through my father while I was growing up. When I came across this CD it brought back so many memories. Listening to the samples took me back so many years. I can't wait to get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Music hath charm to soothe the savage breast, July 23, 2005
This review is from: Maria Elena / Always in My Heart (Audio CD)
I have listened to guitar all my life and heard a lot of great music. However, the music of Los Indios Tabajaras is ,unquestionably, the most exqusite I have ever heard.I don't know anything about the composition of music butI like what I hear. There are only a few who have the gift of being able to talk to many through their music.Los Indios are among that favored few.Thank God for C.D.s so that this genius will not be lost to future generations.

5.0 out of 5 stars QUINESSENTIAL TO THE LATIN AMERICAN SOUND!, June 18, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Maria Elena / Always in My Heart (Audio CD)
If you're lucky enough to own the original RCA albums, then you'll need no convincing to buy this CD anthology!

If you haven't had the opportunity to hear the virtuoso playing of the original Los Indios Tabajares brothers, then you're certainly missing the best instrumental music from Latin America!

You won't be sorry!

Try to track down the hard-to-find Japanese imports from this group..... it'll be worth the search!

Yowza!
