This review is from: Maria Mazziotti Gillan: Essays on Her Works (Writers Series) (Paperback)
As someone who has been greatly influenced by Maria Mazziotti Gillan's poetry and prose, I feel this book didn't go far enough explaining the person behind the poet.

Only rarely do they mention or interview colleagues for their take on Mazziotti Gillan. In other words, there is little, if any, dissension about the poet or her person.

This collection should have included at least one 'personality profile' to pull us away from these repetitive essays. Please, someone show us what a typical day is like for this wife, professor, lecturer, organizer and poet.

Essays On Her Works is strictly for her most devoted fans.
