Hard to Interpret Poetry Book,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Marianne Faithfull's Cigarette: Poems (Paperback)
This is a collection of poems.
I love poetry and can appreciate vague poetry and strange poetry. This book has a few very nice easily interpreted poems. The majority, though are words glued together (without grace, but maybe clumsiness)in a bizarre labyrinth in which I found myself completely lost. I would have enjoyed this book much more if the poems tittles were more relevant, or even if there was a short sentence on the thought or inspiration behind the poems. I'm sure they are very meaningful to the author, but it is much too difficult to comprehend them and I didn't enjoy the task. Because I don't really understand the authors messages, I can't deny too many stars, as it's me who can't find the meaning. Someone else may find this much more entertaining, so I will rate it at four stars because of that. I won't recommend it, however. |
