5.0 out of 5 stars First Folk Trio, March 15, 2007

Terry Gilkenson (not sure of spelling) and The Easy Riders were the first Folk Trio I ever heard. Their hit Marianne came out about the same time Harry Belafonte's Jamaican Farewell. That should have been in the late 50's. So they predated the Kingston Trio by a few years. They also had another LP called Blue Mountain. They have a unique sound which has been copied by some other groups but never really duplicated. I particularly like "South Coast". If you are a collector of folk music, this is the rock all the rest were built upon.

We had this album on a 33 record. it was on order with Amazon for over a year and then they dropped our order out of the system. We looked again and one of their "partners" had it listed on Amazon. Sort of miffed at Amazon that they couldn't know that more than one of their vendors was selling the product.

4.0 out of 5 stars THE EASY RIDERS, March 17, 2010

After the Weavers and before the Kingston Trio were Terry Gilkyson and the Easy Riders, who charted with the hit Marianne in 1957.
I am against white groups singing the blues. However, this was in the time of racially segregated America and their recordings are good and professional, even if a little too professional and lacking the feeling
portrayed by Peter, Paul and Mary. Gilkyson was also a member of the Weavers before Joe McCarthy.
