How does this work?
Clicking the “Test drive now” button launches a copy of this app on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), a web service that provides on-demand compute capacity in the cloud for developers. When you interact with the simulated phone using your mouse and keyboard, we send those inputs over the Internet to the app running on Amazon EC2 — just like your mobile device would send a finger tap to the app. Our servers then send the video and audio output from the app back to your computer. All this happens in real time, allowing you to explore the features of the app as if it were running on your mobile device.

Product Description
Attack from multiple islands

Looking for a highly-addictive real-time strategy game that is easy to learn and hours of fun? Look no further than Archipelago! The goal of the game is quite simple: just capture all of the enemy islands on the map.

Archipelago's gameplay is astonishingly straightforward: Tap an island controlled by your forces to select it, and then tap an enemy A.I. island to send your troops there. Half of an island's available troops participate in the attack; the other half say behind to defend the island. To take over an enemy island you must overwhelm the island with more troops than they have currently defending. It may take several attack waves to capture the island!

The best strategy may include capturing a neutral (grey) island. Large islands can station more troops, and your forces will grow faster. You can send an attack wave from multiple islands. Drag your finger across the screen to select the islands you wish to have participate in the attack.

Game Modes

Archipelago can be played with more than on A.I. player and includes Campaign and Single Game modes. In Campaign Mode, you will always control the blue player, and you have no allies. In Single Game mode, you can configure teams as you desire using seven colors and up to four teams. A useful tutorial is also available to walk you through the game functions.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great but simple July 17, 2011

The game itself has a great concept and does take some strategy, but really its a pretty simple UI with less than stellar graphics. With some giant leaps in graphics and more challenging levels I can see this being a great game. For Strategy types I recomend Majestic and the now classic Age of Conquest: Europe

3.0 out of 5 stars Kinda fun, but not $3 fun. July 17, 2011

If you grabbed this for free, you paid about what it's worth. Game play is simple and multiplayer is enjoyable, but the game is sluggish and repetative enough to keep me from starting it up against the CPU. Despite the name, there is a noticeable lack of specialized finches.

2.0 out of 5 stars Been done better before July 17, 2011

Sorry, but the developers were just too lazy to earn any praise on this one. This is a poor knock-off of the addictive Galcon, which has been on the iOS platform for at least two years. At least Galcon presented a fast-paced challenge that required some strategy. This game is slow and requires absolutely no strategy. You can't select your fleet sizes, there is only one difficulty level, and there is only one game-type.

I'm no programmer, but this took no effort at all. If you want to introduce this as a free version and add other features on later, that's fine, but this is barely even a game.

3.0 out of 5 stars Simple fun game, but... July 17, 2011

Simple fun game, but....needs SD support, as I'd rather run off memory card than phone (HTC Evo 4G). Hopefully the developer/programmer addresses this.

Fun to play for 10 minutes. Try it out for free you may like it. Not enough depth to purchase though.

3.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating July 17, 2011
Verified Purchase
Fun, but the markers are poor and it is far too easy to lose your troops. Needs a better selection notification. I am sick of troops leaving the area instead of reinforcing it.

UPDATE: the game gets easier with time but quickly gets to a point where you can not move on and there is no variation to allow for creative solutions. It is simply the same task over and over again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Like Galcon, but less fun July 17, 2011

This game is like galcon, only slower and without all the variations and the multiplayer options. this game is ok for free, but if you're going to buy this type of game you should get galcon instead.

This game is very simple, but a great time waster. Lots of strategy variations based on the randomly generated islands. Highly recommend!

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh.
This is a not so pretty clone of that other famous air traffic control app. If it weren't free that one time, I would be annoyed.
