4.0 out of 5 stars The THC book
If you want to know about THC then this is the book to get about just that. Be warned! This is heavy on the chemistry and is mostly devoted to that science and so if you do not know much about chemistry then you may only get the benefits from the sections on processing and potency.

This book, like many others pertaining to this subject matter on the market today, is outdated. I have purchased quite a few books written by various authors on this particular subject matter and have come to the conclusion that if you want current, VALID, information it is best to check the publication date prior to purchasing.

This book uses data collected from the pre-Reagan ban on marijuana studies to make good informed conclusions about cannabis. It dips into most everything but I wanted more genetic information.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Chemistry Book, May 15, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Marijuana Chemistry: Genetics, Processing, Potency (Paperback)
This book was made for the stoner nerds of the world. I seriously would not recommend it for anyone that isn't a serious reader. It is extremely complex and it's dealing with a somewhat dangerous process if you don't know what you're doing. At the same time, if you are not afraid to risk blowing yourself up by turning your kitchen into a makeshift lab, this is the book for you.

Even if you aren't interested in the extraction section of the book, this book has really good information about choosing the right strains (high CBD) for use in making hash oil. So I'd definitely recommend it as a beach read.

I bought this book to learn how to extract thc through isomerization. I have never taken a college chemistry class so this book is in no way simple for me to understand. However, after reading the sections on extraction a few times and writing notes it is possible to figure out. I'll write a follow up review when I have a chance to compare yield by this books method and the youtube method.

As a rule of thumb, if the book was published prior to 2006, don't waste your time and money. As always, there are exceptions to this rule, but they are few and very far between.
