Ignorance is no excuse for injustice!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Marijuana: Not Guilty As Charged (Hardcover)
David Ford has provided the weapon of honesty, to reveal the politics and total hypocrisy of the war against the world's least harmful medicine, and high.Ford's combination of comprehensive and chronological scientific, political and social facts laced with the stories of human tragedy is a powerful voice in the darkness. No one who reads this book with the motive of seeking true understanding of this modern witch hunt can ever view this outrage with indifference again. If ignorance is no excuse for the law, then we must conclude, if we are to avoid a double standard, that ignorance is no excuse for injustice.

Someday the Truth Will Triumph,
By M.K. (Portland, Oregon) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Marijuana: Not Guilty As Charged (Hardcover)
I am a disabled person who was overjoyed to read David Ford's wonderful exposè. My progressive condition should be causing unbearable pain and spasms at this point...and DOES without this great medicine. Someday the truth will triumph because of people such as Mr. Ford and books as bold as his. Someday this book will be a collector's item, like the Soviet flag, because of works like this. I have heard Mr. Ford on talk radio, as well. With his survivor's courage and enlightened convictions-having won his battle with cancer with a big help from marijuana-David Ford provides a wealth of knowledge and insight into the absolutely ridiculous and ineffective War On Drugs. This WOD, this total misuse of our money, is being promoted by alcohol, tobacco, and pharmaceutical companies. Dirty politics? You bet! Marijuana is a superior product plain and simple, and more doctors would publicly agree if they could do so without negative consequences. After reading "Marijuana: Not Guilty As Charged," I would not be surprised if the future reveals some sort of conspiracy involving advocates for the gun industry and the DEA's War On Drugs...perhaps gun lobbyists pressing officials to pass WOD budgets to fuel more crime to increase the demand for firearms. In any event, the War On Drugs has achieved this: in every American city, illegal drugs are more readily available today than ever before. And not many consider the by-products of the WOD's destruction, the constant displacement of farmers in developing countries among them. CLEARLY, the War On Drugs has become an out-of-control habit supported by taxpayers coerced by ill-conceived laws. Mr. Ford's book has an easy style and light approach, but makes one think deeply...and hope for a sequel.

Reader Review of: David R. Ford. "Marijuana: Not Guilty,
By Gerry (Mississippi, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Marijuana: Not Guilty As Charged (Hardcover)
As a Caribbean person, who has lived most of my life in Guyana and Jamaica, I wish to highly recommend Dave Ford's timely book on the issue of marijuana use and persecution. Though Ford focuses on the problem in the USA he refers to other countries, and especially studies done outside of the USA which serve to support his thesis that marijuana is not guilty as charged. Ask the Rastafarians of Jamaica. He uses an impressive collection of facts to disclaim the various medical problems that are blamed on marijuana use. He shows how marijuana regulation got caught up in the attempt to deal with abuse of drugs such as cocaine and heroin and how the government bureaucracy for reasons which reasonable people can speculate on, refuses to correct. The noted Caribbean jurist, Aubrey Fraser, documented this same issue. The hysteria surrounding the war on drugs creates a climate in which it is difficult for reasonable and workable approaches to drug use reduction and user rehabilitation to be implemented even though we have examples around the world of what works and what doesn't. A neglected aspect of the war on marijuana which Ford also discusses is how the war has drastically reduced the cultivation and use of hemp, one of the most useful plants known to man. I would highly recommend Ford's book to anyone who is interested in the truth about marijuana and wants to be empowered to make an intelligent choice about what this relatively harmless intoxicant really is all about. It would be remiss if I did not also note that one of the things that is lost because of the irrational approach to marijuana use is the medical benefits of this plant. This has been the subject of study by scientists around the world, including specialists in Jamaica, the UK, and the USA and is one of the points Ford makes in his book.

Marijuana Not Guilty As Charged,

This review is from: Marijuana: Not Guilty As Charged (Hardcover)
After reading "Marijuana Not Guilty As Charged" I have decided to become active in this marijuana movement. This book made me realize that marijuana is a medicine. I wonder how long our federal government is going to be wrong(about medical marijuana) to try to prove that they are right. This book addresses their own DEA administrative judge Francis Young and his support of marijuana. David R. Ford also talks about the "steppingstone theory" and addresses the fact that marijuana was once legal in this country and what happened among many other issues. This book has changed a part of my life. I now know that I cannot sit back and let everyone else do the work in the marijuana movement I have to join the fight. Like David R. Ford, I too can do courageous things to help. This book is a must read. In the book David Ford dedicates a chapter to NORML(National Organization to Reform Marijuana Laws) and ten things that you can do to relegalize marijuana. David R. Ford is so sure of the benefits of marijuana he offers a $50,000 reward to anyone who can scientifically prove marijuana is not medicine. I think this book is a must for the "non-users" of marijuana as well as the users to gain some insight into this misinformed subject. Read this book it's possible that it could help you make the quality of life better for someone you might know or for yourself.

Straight Information and a good read,
By A Customer
This review is from: Marijuana: Not Guilty As Charged (Hardcover)
As a cancer survivor, the author is obviously is passionate about his subject. This book reads like a novel. Anyone with fifth grade reading skills will find it a pleasure to read compared to so many books on this subject that are too technical to hold ones interest. Author Ford keeps the pages turning with interesting stories from his own life as he seeks to bring some balance to the information about medical marijuana. In the face of continual government propaganda, it's a pleasure to hear some truth regarding this sensitive and controversial subject. The author makes a clear case that marijuana has outstanding medical value, and presents sound reasons why this medicine is withheld from sick and dying patients. The book covers the history of marijuana; and how and why it is demonized and forbidden medicine.

Important facts for medical relief-seekers.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Marijuana: Not Guilty As Charged (Hardcover)
Mr. Ford's bold writing challenges government positions on marijuana as medicine by pointing out that the government ignored the facts and caved in to industry lobbying, corruption which began nearly a century ago. The fact that it has taken so long to overturn its traditional viewpoint, particularly in light of modern methods which have proven that marijuana is extremely helpful in the relief of a variety of symptoms, shows that big money still decides what's best for American citizens. Mr. Ford leads a battle for truth, and behind him stands an aging generation seeking fairness in politics and access to proven medicinal methods. A very important work.

A bold and factual perspective; the truth is good medicine!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Marijuana: Not Guilty As Charged (Hardcover)
Mr. Ford's book is written in a style both comfortable and informative for readers of any age or background. It is a success story in that Mr. Ford's own victory over cancer motivated it. It is a compelling story in that he delves so deeply into the tragedy of how marijuana's legal status ignores the suffering of people with a wide variety of afflictions, whom would benefit from a more compassionate and truthful government stance. And it is a shocking story of the corporate greed, racial prejudice, paranoia, and deceit, which are the historical roots of this government stance. Mr. Ford, a retired investigative reporter, offers $50,000 to anyone who can prove that marijuana is not medicine, and after reading this book, one can see why not even the government could stand up to his challenge. This book is for anyone seeking the truth, as well as medical relief. Purchased via Amazon for just over $17, this book would make a great gift!

'SHOULD BE BESTSELLER',
By Elisabeth M. Drews (CALIFORNIA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Marijuana: Not Guilty As Charged (Hardcover)
I have had the honor and pleasure to read "Marijuana not guilty as charged" and brought several copies of it for friends and family. As Glenn, one of the readers, so correctly stated, it should be in every household to not only inform but educate people. It once again proves that we are a spoonfed society and that it takes individuals such as this author, David R. Ford, to break through that barrier and do the work for us. I applaud you Mr. Ford on having the courage to write a book on a very controveral subject and bring the facts to a very misguided society. I am looking for (hopefully) more publishings of yours. Gratefully, Elisabeth M. Drews

Enlightenment for the New Millennium,
This review is from: Marijuana: Not Guilty As Charged (Hardcover)
Author David Ford sheds pure light on a controversial subject made so only by the government-based bias against marijuana and its medical benefits, benefits long known to be factual by anyone interested enough to research the subject as did Ford. Ford's interest, and his ability to put it all together for us in a book that should become a bible on the subject, enlightens all who care to read it and learn the facts. Our only hope should be that other book outlets have the courage to offer it to the public and are not hampered by "do-gooders" and others who don't want to know the truth and don't want others to know it either. "Marijuana: Not Guilty As Charged" is an honest book and to read it is a great way to kick off the new mellinnium with the pursuit of wisdom on all things, including marijuana. Hooray for Ford and his great book!

A "must read" for marijuana's medical value,
By A Customer
This review is from: Marijuana: Not Guilty As Charged (Hardcover)
Author David R Ford brilliantly confirms marijuana's medical value. A "must read" for every politician.(and anyone who wants to know the truth!)Marijuana has proven medical value, as published March 17,1999 by the Institute of Medicine, a division of the prestigious National Academy of Sciences. Why then is it still prohibited medicine by the federal government? Author, and former CBS television journalist from Hawaii, David R. Ford reports the facts in his easy to read book. Ford explains how the federal government created a systematic campaign of deception that began in the 1930's. U.S. legislators were duped into outlawing this relatively harnless plant--along with hemp, it's versatile NONINTOXICATING cousin. The author paints a clear picture, with credible references, that marijuana is intentionally kept as a Schedule One drug, with heroin,(too dangerous to prescribe, and with no medical value!) At the same time, Marinol, the synthetic pot capsule is easily available, but can cost up to $1,000 a month. Other than the federal government, the war on marijuana is funded by the alcohol, tobacco, and pharmaceutical companies. Marijuana is their competition. An herb cannot be patented. The book includes dozen's of patient's stories,(including the author's, who is a cancer survivor.) Marijuana: Not Guilty as Charged, also includes about every myth regarding pot for the past 60 years. This book is a MUST READ, written by a man who has spent over 50 years studying this subject. |
