Thought fans like myself of Manson would like to know that this is NOT just a bluray reissue of the GG&G DVD from a few years back. Remember how that DVD was annoying as it was a weird cut together of several different shows? Well, this isnt, and it is SO MUCH BETTER. One night, one performance, as it should have been in the first place. If you are a fan of Manson before it started going wrong from GROTESQUE onwards, then this bluray is for you. Great HD quality (1080i though not 1080p) and sound all good as well. We can only hope Manson fins passion again one day as he did on the albums up until this point on this release. Saw his last 2 x tours - he looks bored and going through the motions now onstage, unlike his performance on this GREAT live set. Get it.

This is (without a doubt) THEE best Marilyn Manson DVD out there!! Packed with some of his best songs, the self-proclaimed God of F*** hits us again with his lyrics about Sex, Drugs, Religion, and everything in between! While I have been a Manson fan for a very long time, I (sadly) haven't been able to see him live. But this DVD makes up for that ten-fold! I feel like I am right there, in concert, with Marilyn Manson! Seriously...If you downright love Marilyn Manson or just sort of like his music, buy this DVD, and I guarantee you that you will love Marilyn Manson after watching this. His performance is theatrical, his delivery is driven, and this DVD is a God-send! Especially after listening to "The High End of Low".

I bought this as an avid collector of any Blu Ray concerts..was not even a Marilyn Manson fan. I watched this and am now a HUGE Marilyn Manson fan. This is one of the most intense and entertaining concerts I've ever seen. The sound and picture quality is incredible. The set-list is unbelievable. Every song literally rocks. I have already watched this 10 times and can't get enough. It is worth every penny. I also never write Amazon reviews but was that compelled to say something. Buy it.

I have been a fan of manson for a while, mainly his older stuff. this disc captures everything from american to holywood. so its all the good stuff. I must say I have a pretty big collection of Blu Rays, between me and my roomie about 300. This has to be the clearest sharpest vid quality I have seen yet. The colors are sharp and distinct I am really impressed the quality here. The mix in 5.1 comes out great. so if your a manson fan this is some really good quality footage...enjoy

An Awesome Film!!!,
This review is from: Marilyn Manson: Guns, God and Government - Live in L.A. [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
This was an awesome experience! I really felt like I was at a Marilyn Manson concert. I loved to see what it looked like while he was singing. My favorites songs were The Reflecting God, The Fight Song, The Nobodies, Disposable Teens, and Sweet Dreams. Some of the things he did were funny like humping members of his band, and much more. I highly recommend MARILYN MANSON: GUNS, GOD, AND GOVERNMENT- LIVE IN L.A.!!!

First of all, I should say that I'm extremely happy to have this concert documented in full, unlike the DVD version which is cobbled together from various concerts. This was a fantastic concert - I know because I was there. It took place at the Grand Olympic Auditorium, and it wasn't really advertised as part of the tour. In fact, I remember finding out about it in some offhand manner, and it felt sort of a like a secret show just for fans. As you can see from the video, the place wasn't packed to the rafters, but it was definitely full. And the crowd was very enthusiastic. One of the other reviewers felt that the noise of the crowd had been dubbed in, and although I can't prove him wrong, I can definitely say that there was a roar. With properly placed microphones, I'm sure they could have recorded it, maybe pumped it up a bit. As to his comments on the lack of women in the audience in spite of their presence on the soundtrack, I can say that there were lots of them at the show, less so on the floor so maybe the microphones were placed in the balconies. I did find a bootleg audio recording of the show, and the women could definitely be heard.
Now, here's the bad news: the crowd may or may not have been dubbed, but Manson's vocals definitely were. And poorly. Not in the sense that he didn't sound good, but that the syncing was off. At times, a note would extend after he put the microphone down, and at other times, full lines were sung with the microphone at his side or held out to the audience. I found it somewhat distracting, but maybe others wouldn't even notice. I don't remember him sounding bad at the concert, and the bootleg bears this out. I can only guess that there was a problem with the audio, and perhaps this is why the original DVD was cut together from several concerts. The good news is that if you can get past the dubbing, it is a great representation of a Manson concert when he was still in his prime. It looks fantastic on a 52" HDTV and, dubbing aside, sounds great (through headphones, that is - I don't think the neighbors would appreciate it at the volume I'm accustomed to). It's a must for fans and also for anyone wondering what all the fuss was about. He might not be your cup of tea, but he is a great performer with songs that actually mean something (this album/tour came out right after he was blamed for the Columbine massacre, and he deftly places the blame where it truly belongs - on gun-obsessed Christian society). I would have given it five stars if not for the dubbing issue.

This is what blu-ray is all about people. This concert captures shock-rocker Marilyn Manson at his prime during the height of his controversial career. Great audio quality, superb picture and Marilyn Manson's pasty white ass. The concert includes some of Manson's most notable songs, such as The Beautiful People, Disposable Teens and The Dope Show. If you aren't a fan of Manson then i would pass on this purchase, but for anybody that has a fascination with the macabre then this is the show for you!

As it was mentioned before, Manson's can clearly be head singing while the microphone was down or his mouth was closed. I don't know if he lip-synched that particular show because of vocal problems (it was one of the last shows on the tour after all) and he half-assed his performance, or it was dubbed in during the editing of the BluRay to fix any mistakes he may have made. The band seems to be playing live so I can't imagine the audio being from a different show(s) (unless the band plays the exact same thing in the exact same way in every show which is highly unlikely). Besides the editing flubs, the concert must've been killer to witness live. I'm sad to say that I was never able to experience Manson in his good years (pre-2007). His latest performances have been terrible and his band is no longer solid. Either drugs have caught up to him or age, but given the fact that his former master, Trent Reznor, is older than he is (albeit slightly) but far surpasses him in music, image and performance, I would say that the drugs have finally caught up and whatever emotional problems Manson has been harboring has finally taken its toll. I hope he gets his act together, move Twiggy back on bass, and start writing some albums with effort. Until then, I'm happy to be able to listen to his good albums and watch old videos of his performances on the internet.
I'm also hoping for an official blu-ray release of a show of his other tours (most notably the Grotesque tour and Against All Gods tour).

This is what it should have been in the first place- one show, one set. Powerful performance from the best Marilyn Manson lineup ever. Get this even if you already have the 2002 DVD version. Trust me. It's a good upgrade.

I expected a little more. But still amazing quality of capture. I did not notice any lip-syncing that others have mentioned and I watch this pretty closely.
