Legend Remembered..Plus 1951 movie.., September 20, 2009
This review is from: Marilyn Monroe: The Legend of Marilyn Monroe/ Home Town Story (DVD)
Well, I would have to say this combination dvd set has been offered at least 2 times before. This is a new package, for 2008.
I liked Marilyn's first documentary which was done in 1964 and Narrated by John Huston. (Who directed her in "Asphalt Jungle", 1950, and "The Misfits", 1962). I thought it was well done from start to finish. Even had the actual footage from her funeral in West Hollywood on August 8, 1962. She was well loved by millions worldwide and it showed that day in particular.
The movie "Hometown Story" was one of her first roles, done in 1951, and she played a secretary. It was a decent film in itself, but MM was not on screen for much of the movie. Only diehard MM fans would have this one in their collection from her. =]
All in all, it is not a bad dvd to have in your movie collection from Marilyn. I watch the documentary every year on her birthday or anniversary of her death. Have been a huge fan since 1982 here in L.A.
For the money, it is worth having. ~
