1.0 out of 5 stars Portrait of a bad VHS tape, August 11, 2006
This review is from: Marilyn: Portrait of a Legend (DVD)
Alright..this is just a guess...but I think the dubious producers of this DVD managed to get a hold of a crappy fly-by-night VHS tape from back in the 80's (one with a few tracking problems I might add) and simply transferred it to DVD, flaws and all. Cheapo VHS tapes like this were legion back in the era of the Rubiks Cube and Pac-Man and should've stayed there.

For those unaware of such things, anyone and I mean ANYONE can grab a bunch of public domain footage of a celebrity, in this case Marilyn Monroe, and turn it into a documentary film provided you don't see any problem with repeating that same footage over and over again. There's nothing of much interest here outside of an interview with Robert Slatzer who comes across as genuinely regretful and subscribes to the "JFK killed MM" theory. Marilyn may not have survived her own demons but she'll certainly survive this shoddy product. Look elsewhere for a portrait of Marilyn Monroe.

3.0 out of 5 stars MARILYN IS A LEGEND BUT.........., May 16, 2009
This review is from: Marilyn: Portrait of a Legend (DVD)
THIS DVD IS A COLLOSAL JOKE.
MARILYN DESERVES MUCH BETTER THAN THIS.
I'VE NEVER SEEN A DVD WITH SUCH HORRIBLE VIDEO QUALITY.
THE 3 STARS ARE FOR THE ROBERT SLATZER INTERVIEW ONLY.
I'VE SEEN BETTER QUALITY ON A TV GUIDE CHANNEL HALF HOUR SPECIAL.
I'M A HUGE FAN OF MARILYN'S AND I'M APPAULED AT THE RELEASE OF THIS DVD.
