4.0 out of 5 stars If you like drawings of fish bones, this book is for you., November 10, 1999
This review is from: Marine Fish Osteology a Manual for Archaeologists (Spiral-bound)
Cannon's book is an illustrated guide to fish bones to be used as an aid to identifying archaeological specimens. The bulk of the volume consists of numerous detailed drawings of the individual bones comprising the skeleton of four different species of fish: Pacific salmon (Salmonidae); Atlantic cod (Gadidae); red rockfish/ red snapper (Scorpaenidae); and Pacific halibut (Pleuronectidae). I used this book to label bones and create a reference skeleton of a cod. Even though its coverage is limited to only four species, it remains one of the only good comparative manuals on fish osteology.

4.0 out of 5 stars An illustrated book for learning fish bones, July 4, 2006
This review is from: Marine Fish Osteology a Manual for Archaeologists (Spiral-bound)
A lab and field manual for the experienced fish analyst or the student of fish osteology. It is still one of the only fish books devoted to bone drawings. The main purpose of the manual is to show basic osteological differences between various fish taxa on the basis of complete osteologies. The spiral bound version is available new from Amazon.ca's MarketPlace.
