This book is a reprint from the 80s, it has a nice cover but that is it. The content is outdated, you are being tricked into buying because of the publication date. Again information in this book is over 20 years old. Also the printing and is bad; Some Examples: 13-27 center hold technique image bad very dark; 10-18 prone to kneeling can not see detail, Alternate prone same can't see detail; 9-36 kneeling with weapon images bad not detail; 8-7 donning and clearing gas mask all images poor; 3-7 manual of arms can't see detail of the hand and arm placement; There are 55 images in this part and you learn nothing from them because you can not see any detail. Very much a waste of money, Outdated, poor text and print!!

This book is a civilian version of the marine guidebook on essential subjects, it is printed in 2010 but the information is from 1985. I now have two of the same book, so i thought i should warn anyone who might fall into the same trap.

Not what I expected,

I was hoping for a pocket field manual, such as the one I had to carry in basic. This aint it. I seems to be a civilian copy of an old book, the photos are really poor I wouldn't recommend it.

All this information is outdated and if your already a Marine, then just download the MCCS books off of the MCI website.,

Trust me, you'll be able to get more updated info for free as opposed to burning your wallet to this waste of paper.

Definitely worth buying if you're interested in joining the military or just interested in any survival guide tactics. Has everything you need. Compact size, simple read, pictures every step of the way in case you get lost with the wording. Definitely buy this!

Wonderfully Nostalgic,
This review is from: U.S. Marine Guidebook (Paperback)
I read the other reviews of disappointment, but see it differently. It is the exact same guidebook I was given when I was enlisted in 1983. For those of us who didn't keep our original copy, this was a fun find. Yes, a few of the graphics a bit dark, but other than that, a good find. Hah! Remember "junk on the bunk"! The photos are there. "Fireman's carry" there too. OohRah!
