Must have Organizational History of the WWII USMC,
By
This review is from: US Marine Corps Pacific Theater of Operations 1944-45 (Battle Orders) (Paperback)
Gordon Rottman, a prolific writer and historian who has recent some of the best Osprey titles, succeeds brilliantly with this 3 volume organizational history of the USMC in WWII. In a clear concise manner, Rottman, manages to give a detailed overview of the development of the USMC order of battle during the war. This book, as well as the other two volumes, is a must have for those interested in the Marine Corps WWII order of Battle.

I was very interested in this book as a research tool. It had been referred to me by a presently serving Marine in response to a question I had concerning assault squads/teams on Iwo Jima. I was initially very disappointed in the actual size of the book when I first saw it. it looked quite thin and I felt it was not $25.00 worth of book however after sitting down and reading it I felt better about it. It did help me in my research. |
