Product Description

From the Manufacturer

As the sniper in one of the world’s most deadly specialty infantry units, you’ll chase down a terrorist organization bent on nuclear Armageddon for the West. Your mission: Save the USA--and maybe even the planet.

Marine Sharpshooter focuses on the combat sniper, one of the most legendary specialties in the infantry. Along with his spotter pair, the game moves the duo through a series of covert missions that center on preventing the construction and launch of a nuclear missile.

The player-sniper will be accompanied at all times by the spotter, who acts as a radio link to headquarters, provides close-fire support, and assists the sniper in finding his target. Quality voiceover dialogue draws the player through the game as he fights to prevent a nuclear catastrophe. To do this, each player will have to chase a fictional terrorist organization around the world, from Afghanistan to Chechnya, and then on to a fortress on a small South Pacific island. Along the way--wheeled vehicles, helicopters, terrorist troops, snipers, and an arsenal of weapons guaranteed to do some damage.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not too bad for ten bucks., April 25, 2007

= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Marine Sharpshooter (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
I bought this game for $10 and when I got home I realized that it was both One and Two, so that was a good deal! I'm writing this review from a "Ten dollars is not too bad for any game" standpoint:

The graphis are okay. Certainly not the best, but I've seen worse. When people talk, their mouths don't move. When they walk or run, it looks mostly natural. The dead bodies disappear and there is blood.

The AI is so-so. Your spotter guy gets in the way sometimes--I accidentally shot him in the head once. When you're not having to aim around him, he stands there and you have to jump over him to get around him. But he DOES kill enemies and that helps a lot. And he'll point them out to you, too. The enemies will drop and roll and try to avoid your shots.

You get to carry three weapons: Knife, Pistol and Sniper Rifle. I haven't used the knife but the pistol is good for close combat. It takes an eternity to bring the sniper scope to your eye but once it's up there, it's a good weapon. There is the swaying motion that comes with using a scope so that adds to the realism.

The game is not terribly interactive but there is a story to go along with it. I bought it because I like to be sneaky and I think this game is average in that area. A better (and more difficult) "sneaky" game is Hitman. 3/5 stars.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is not a good game, March 4, 2010

The problem with this game is everything. The enemies always know right where you are regaurdless of how much concealment you have. The ballistics are shotty and not in a good way, and 90% of the game just outright doesn't make sense.

2.0 out of 5 stars Primitive graphics, short, November 11, 2006
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Marine Sharpshooter (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
Despite the primitve graphics (by todays atandards)I was starting to have fun with this game. Just as I was beginning to think this game was OK, it ended. It's short. $10 is even a little steep for this game. I would say $5 would be fair. Better off getting something newer, unless you have a weak computer and video card.
