3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best
I bought this to replace one that had been chewed by critters. I was disappointed. This brush does not hold the basting liquid in sufficient quantity to do the job. The bristles are much too large and too few to work effectively. Go for a brush with more, and smaller bristles and you'll be much happier. I doubt that Mario has even used this.

Easy to clean, perfect for basting smaller pieces of meat. If I had a whole turkey to baste, it wouldn't be big enough, but for my use it is perfect.

After unpacking the Mario Batali Silicone Basting Brush I was not sure how this could possibly do the job. Well, what a wonderful awakening. Its light weight, holds and spreads sauce evenly. I Love it.

I had been looking for a basting brush to use when grilling outdoors for a long time. I tried all different types. Most didn't clean very well and was ruined by the heat of the grill after a few uses.

This brush is like brand new after a few months of constant use. It withstands heat of the grill and washes perfectly in the dishwasher.

....that you didn't know you needed. Saw one of these at a friend's house and realized that having a basting brush that never gets clean and leaves pieces of itself all over the food is not the way that life has to be.

Having used the standby paint brush for years to baste the bird, coat the cookies, etc. Then trying to remove loose bristles from everthing else, this silicone brush is a gift from heaven!. It does the job very nicely and is simple to clean.

I prefer the silicone brush/baster over the traditional brush as it is much easier to clean. Just need soap and water and it cleans up all the grease much quicker. We have been using the regular brush before and it was always a mess. I often have pieces of bristles ended up on my barbecues.

My traditional brush is good on retaining the basting sauce, unfortunately it is also good on keeping the marinating sauce deep within the brush itself. So, although it seems that it gets a lot of sauce, it also does not want to let it go. This silicone brush is better than the round brush type of silicone brushes; it has grooves which help retain liquid in it. It is made of three tiers or rows. Looks sturdy and well built. Heat resistant up to 500 deg F. The handle is also made of slip proof silicone rubber. Feels heavy and...heavy duty. But...the handle is much heavier than the brush head, meaning you cannot use a small light bowl and let the baster sit on the edge. It will tip it over. Either you lay it down flat on a surface or use a heavy bowl. Also, it does not have a hook on the side where you can hang it at the side of a pan or a bowl.

Overall, it is a quality useful product. A good buy.

Hassle free packaging. China made.
