Okay, so you had/played/enjoyed Nintendo back in the day (1980's). Well if you were big into Mario Brothers 1, 2, 3, and some other mario tunes/melodies for the original NES, you will enjoy this. It has 79 tracks of the ORIGINAL tunes/melodies. It isnt some ghetto person playing the tune like some generic artists do. You have to be a complete nintendo finatic and older than 18 to fully enjoy it. Either way, if you love original Mario Bros. tunes/melodies, this is the cd for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Long Live Mario!!!!!, May 17, 2011

Anyone who's played any of the Super Mario games, knows that it's music and sound effects are easily recognizable!

this cd is a must for any fan of the classic Mario franchise...and I personally feel that this should have been the cd in the "Super Mario All-Stars" video game for the Wii, instead of the 15+ minutes "soundtrack" we got hosed with!

Product was shrink wrapped and free of any defects. It's everything I've ever wanted....music from the Super Mario Bros series! Straight from the games, straight from your youth, straight into your heart! Worth every penny, leaves you only wanting more (from the SNES titles, anyway).

5.0 out of 5 stars Brings back memories, April 10, 2008

I was willing to pay the $39.99 for this CD and it was worth it. The only downfall is that the wording inside the CD jacket is in Japanese. Other than that, I truly enjoyed putting this CD in and listening to the various Mario tunes. I was heavily into Super Mario Bros. games as a teenager and always enjoyed the music. Several months ago I came across a website that had snippets of various Nintendo game tunes and only found a couple from the Mario Bros. I was very happy when I saw this CD and it was worth the investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cd for those whole are old school gamers, March 11, 2010

I would recommend this cd to anyone who remembers the good old days of the NES and the original Super Mario Bros. This cd has all of the cool music tracks from the games plus some tracks which you may have forgotten about. The songs are nice but there are a couple of minor points to be aware of. Most of the tracks are a minute long or less-so most tunes only playthrough once but the songs are catchy enough that the length really doesn't matter. Also the tracks do come up in japanese when detected by itunes, so you will need an english translation for your track listing. Overall however, this is a smart purchase for any nintendo fan. It's a shame that this cd (among others) is hard to find in this country. This is the only place in which I have found this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great cd, April 9, 2009
This review is from: Mario the Music (Famicom Sound History Series) (Audio CD)
I consider this soundtrack to be of a similar concept to what disc 2 of Zelda Sound and Drama is. This cd combines soundtracks of Mario games from Mario Bros. arcade up to Yoshi's Cookie (I think) without missing anything, even including the special ending song from SMB 2 J. It's always fun listening to this soundtrack.

The tracks do come up in Japanese but what do you expect when it is an import soundtrack. That being said, if you're familiar with the game, you know what each song is. A good Mario soundtrack to cover the NES age of Mario.
