At first, I was really skeptical about this game after playing Virtua Tennis for Dreamcast. That game was great. The graphics and simple gameplay were really fun. However, I must say that Mario Tennis blew me away. Not only are the 2 button controls easy for all skill levels to master, the gameplay is very simple. It is one of the easiest games for beginners to get into and start having fun. The game is probably best for 4 players. It makes a great party game. The replay value is really good. Some games, once you've beat it, it isn't fun to play again. However, there are so many different modes and different level computers that even the best player can still play and lose. Try the Intense setting of computer players, and they will absolutely dominate. I would recommend this game to anyone, even non-tennis fans, because it is very fun and easy to get into. The graphics are gorgeous, and everything you can hope for out of the Nintendo 64. Gameplay is well paced, and the framerate is very fluid. No choppy action like in other games...cough...Perfect Dark...cough...So with that said, I would say buy this game. If you have other siblings who play with you, this game is an awesome multiplayer game.

Game, Set, Mario!,

This review is from: Mario Tennis (Video Game)
First of all I would like to state that Daisy is NOT new. She was in the Mario brothers movie before Princess Toadstool had a first name, and yes she was more attracted to Luigi. Anyway I am a big fan of Mario, which has caused many late, low-graded projects for school from my unstoppable playing since I first got a game my dad brought from somewhere, Donkey Kong. It's been around 10 years since I first saw a little LCD Mario and I still love him, and Mario Tennis is no exception. Mario Tennis is surprisingly easy to learn yet hard to win at higher levels, minute to learn lifetime to master kinda thing. If you play tennis like me (it's the only sport I can play without worrying about my attrified muscles from 10 years of video games) then it is even better, try to pick a player who fits your playing stlye I like Boo because I don't hit hard, but it's fun to make your opponent run around the court because you have such great control over the ball. Bowser's arena is pretty fun with the items and the tipping. The play control is very nice, the best possible without losing an easy-to-learn interface. Somethings however take time to learn such as controlling Boo's drifting, or timing for power shots. So far time has proven that Mario has two favorite avtivities, whomping King Bowser Koopa, or unwinding by playing him in golf or tennis, and despite Bowser's constant efforts to kill Mario he still needs to unwind too in a friendly game of tennis, though you can gaurantee he'll spit in your water bottle if he loses. Many characters are back includin the Shy Guy and parratrooper. This game is incredible, buy it now! If you don't have the cash, start asking for some extra chores for a bit. You don't want to wait for this honey of a game!

HI, My name is Sean and I work at [a] Best Buy ... . We recently got this game in stock in order that our customers could play it before it is released. I have played Mario Tennis numerous times and I absolutely love it. It is a great game and a lot of fun. There are many characters to choose from and different types of levels. All in all, this has to be one of the best games we have gotten in this year!

Amazing fun for all ages,
This review is from: Mario Tennis (Video Game)
I was very skeptical that a video tennis game could be at all interesting. It was only after a fair amount of discussion that we decided to give this one a try, and see what it was like.It was great fun!! You can choose from tons of players - Mario, Luigi, Shy Guy, Birdo, Paratroopa, and much more. Each has its own particular strengths and weaknesses. Gameplay brings back the addictive qualities of pong and other such games - try to put spin and lob on the ball to sneak past your opponents. You can play with up to four players, using the computer as substitutes for humans if you wish. There are different court types to add complexity to gameplay. There are also a series of fun games where you have to get the most rings, or use special items, or even play on a moving base. There are also competitions where you work your way progressively through your opponents until you emerge the victor. Definitely a great game for a group of people, and the game also is fun as solo-play to hone your reflexes. I'd gladly recommend this one to all ages!

Mario and the crew serve another great sports game,

I don't like sports games that much, but Mario Golf and now, Mario Tennis, have changed my mind a little bit. A lot of the most popular Nintendo mascots such as Mario, Bowser, and Donkey Kong are here to try and win the Final Cup in this game. But there are also some others that you will recognize from older Nintendo games. For example, Birdo (the egg-spitting dinosaur from Super Mario Bros. 2) is here, and so is Donkey Kong Jr. There's a lot of things that are good about Mario Tennis. You can play up to four players, you can play singles or doubles matches, and there are also other modes of play such as a Bowser stage where you can get powerups (just like in Mario Kart 64), and use them while the court shakes according to where you move on the court. To add even more replay value to Mario Tennis, there are two hidden characters that you can get by beating the game, and a lot of secrets to get tons of other cups such as the Peach Cup and Bowser Cup. All the basics of Mario Tennis are great. It has some good graphics, the control is top notch, the sounds and effects are cool, and best of all, it's a lot of fun. Even if you don't like sports games that much, I would recommend getting Mario Tennis. You won't be disappointed. I recommend anybody who has a Nintendo 64 to get this game.

Camelot and Nintendo really outdid themselves this time with their new release, Mario Tennis. They have served up the goods on every aspect of the game, including vibrant, colorful animation, an inspiring setup that I hope becomes the standard for all sports games on Nintendo, Dreamcast, asnd Playstation alike, controls that make the Sega smash hit Virtua Tennis look like Pong, a wide selection of characters (16 to be exact), big and small, winged or not winged, young and old, and an incredibly fluent multiplayer mode which is so addictive you might want to have your friends stay over for a couple of days, order some pizza and sit it next to the couch (so you don't have to fast; believe me, you won't want to get up for food) and play till you doze off, which won't happen, the game is so enticing. Camelot, on the other hand, did one heck of a job. They surpassed Mario Golf on every angle, also. There are better graphics, better setup, better everything. There is also a bunch more modes in Mario Tennis than Mario Golf, and Camelot/Nintendo, brought back some old favorites, including the ring shot mode, which is back and better than ever. Overall, I had a smashing time playing this game and it's a definite buy, Mario fans or not. Please, don't make a mistake and "rent" this game. It doesn't deserve it, but you do. So take this advantage and put this game a permanent member of your 64 collection. This game is a gem, and there's nothing like. There never will be, either.

So much fun!,

We love this game in our house! I am the mom of a little Nintendo dude and this is the only game that I enjoy playing out of our collection and the only one that I can win! It is just like real tennis, and there are so many great characters and court surfaces to choose from. Singles is fun, doubles is fun, the controls are easy to use, and the graphics are great. You can come up to the net and volley, hang back and hit groundies - the Waluigi character is hilarious to watch. Kids will come to our house and say, "Tennis? Boring!" And then once they play it, they are hooked! They always want to play it first the next time they come over. Best Nintendo game yet.

As funny as Mario Kart for SNES,

This game keeps up the fun of Mario Classics, with a big bunch of characters playing against each other. You can choose Mario, Luigi, Daisy, Toad, Bowser, DK, Yoshi, Boo, Birdo, Shy Guy, Para Troopa, Wario, Waluigi, DK JR. It is a funny and hard game, if you choose to play against an intensive level cpu. As You advance Mushroom Cup(Hard Court), You can play Flower Cup(Saibro)and finally Star Cup(Grass). As you win the challenges new characters appear. You can still challenge yourself at Piranha Challenge, where a Piranha machine throw balls quickly against your side of the court, or ring challenge, trying to hit the rings on other side. Each character has a typical and unique style of play. Technique will be found in Waluigi or Shy Guy, Speed in Toad or Yoshi, Power in DK or Bowser, Tricks in Boo... Mario and Luigi are all around players. The game can be played in doubles, with 4 controllers or against computer. If you have a friend or a relative who likes challenge, it is a great oportunity to play together. I recommend this game to all ages.

Super Fabulous Fun,

Wow! What a game! When I first played to game...I was hooked. And there is nothing better than a game that really reels you in from the absolute start. In fact-the game is such a hit at my house that when a large group of people play "Mario Tennis", we have to rotate in order to accomadate everyone. Why? Well because the game's easy controls and infectious gameplay is a real hook. The huge amount of character's is also a big plus. The inclusion of lesser known(but still loved)Mario characters; Daisy, Shy Guy, Boo, and Koopa; combined with more famous personalities, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, and Bowser...is just so cool. The game is great on one-player mode, but really wired when work the multi-player mode. The graphics are great and as said before the play control is superb. It is one of those games that will make you run out and buy a N64 just to play it.

When I heard Mario Tennis was coming out, I didn't think at all that I would have it. I had never played tennis before, and rarely watched it on TV. I tryed playing it at Wal-Mart, and before I knew it, I was hooked! I wanted to stay there all night playing it. Instead, I went home, and the next day I was online finding all the reviews I could. I knew that it was fun at Wal-Mart, but I didn't know if it would get boring quickly or not. I was convinced when I read about my 20th review. A few days later, I had it. It is very fun, and I think that if you like tennis, you will love it. If you can't stand tennis, I can't tell you whether you'll like it or not. It's very fun, but you should try to play it a little before you get it, to find out if you like it.
