Clive sure does know how to pick 'em. I was really impressed with Mario's album. At first, in a world of cookie-cutter teen heart throbs, I thought that Mario would be just another flash in the pan. But after "Just A Friend 2002" and "Braid My Hair," I decided to go on and buy the album and found that it was amazing. For just a fifteen year-old, the depth of the album is incredible. But I guess that is due in large part to soul-singing-songstress Alicia Keys who wrote and produced a few songs on the LP. It's solid:

When this Cd first came out i couldn't believe that somebody actually found a boy with talent

Braid My hair and Just a friend made it all the way with me.

Hopefully we can keep him just the way he is, i just got his new Cd the turning point, so maybe he decided to follow the sex crazed omarion and his brother marques but who knows.

Mario you were on the right track with this CD don't follow the rest of them

Look Mario is the next big think in R&B/Hip-Hop/Pop and he has the moves to be the next Usher... With Hits like "Just A Friend 2002" and "Never"... even tho "Braid My Hair" sounds corney it is a very good song.... "Could U Be" is and excellent song and is one of my favories.. I rate very strictly and yall need to stop dissin the Playa iight? Here is my review of each song...

1) Just A Friend 2002- (5.0) yall heard this song plenty of times and it is a really great song... 3rd Favorite

2)C'Mon- sound like an edited verson of the Thong song it is striaght (4.3)

3)Braid My Hair- An Underrated song it really is very good and very relaxing (5.0)

4)2 Train- This is the area that mario need to improve in this song is ok but i just don't really like it.. (3.7)

5)What Your Name Is- This is one of my favories and this was writtin beautifuly and this is just a good song... (4.7)

6)Holla Back- This song is cool but i'm getting tired of Holla back to be honest... (4.8)

7)Could U Be- This one of my favories and this really proves why he is the future of R&B...(5.0)

8)Put Me On- this song is good and i like the beat a little on this jam.. (4.6)

9)Chick Wit Da Braids- yeah this song is one of the best.. it's striaght.. (4.9)

10)Never- MY FAVORITE ON THE ALBUM, THIS SONG IS THE BOMB! FELLAS SING THIS SONG TO YA GIRL, LADIES I KNO U WOULD LIKE THIS SONG IF U ARE AN R&B CHICK (5.0+)

11)Girl In the Picture- this song is ok and it has ability to be one of the best on the album..

I second the poster's opinion who said that Clive knows how to pick them. Whitney, Luther, 'Licia, and now Mario! He is truly a cute little boy. All of his songs are typical for his age which is good..compared to B2K who always wants to Bump, Bump, Bump and whatever else they sing.

Mario caught our attention with Just A Friend, and I liked this song so much, while I was at work that summer, I sent my younger brother (who would be embarassed to be caught buying this cd) to Target to pick it up for me.

Pick this cd up. He's got a good voice for a kid and I wish the best in his later efforts.

1. Just A Friend--this song is tight. A remake of the Biz's song. The video is cute and he's doing what little boys do: trying to get at girls without being over the top.
2. C'mon--one of my favorite tracks. A true dance song. Now I don't really do fast songs, but I dance around my house to this one! Way better than the remix used for the video

3. Briad My Hair--who didn't like this one??!!

4. 2 Train--skippable

5. What Your Name Is--cute song. Despite the grammar issues, lol

6. Holla Back--skippable

7. Could U Be--I can picture a kid sitting in a classroom passing notes back and forth. cute song

8. Put Me On- 3.5/5

9. Chick Wit Da Braids-- this one is ok. but just ok

10. Never--very nice song. Mario has a very nice voice.

Mario is a truly talented person. When I first heard his first single "Just a Friend" I thought Biz Markie had finally come out with a remix. When I found out it was Mario I was shocked but I knew I would buy his album. I first heard Mario on the Dr. Dolittle2 Soundtrack in a song called "Tameeka" ft. Fabolous. The album is great; he has a very nice voice and the right songs to go with it! The best songs are: C'mon, Holla Back, Never, Put Me On, Braid My Hair, and Girl in the Picture.

Even a 44 year old like myself can appreciate a excellent CD from an extremely talented new artist from J records. Superb melodies, great hooks, modern lyrics ("Holla Back"), and just plain good songs are all featured on this excellent recording. Favorites are "Could U Be", "2 Train", "Holla Back", "What Your Name Is", just to name a few. Hands down, Mario 'IS' the best new talented artist to come around in years.........this is the real thing....he has a voice!

I just wanna say that Mario's self-titled cd is on the map for one of my few on my list that is close 2 being my all time favorites.. My favorite songs are "Never" & "2 Train". "Never" is simply one of the best songs created. He's so talented, not only to neglect that he was only 16-years-old (at the time). He will go down as one of the illest crooners in many years to come. "2 Train" was an extarordinary put together concept by Ms. Alicia Keys, she also did her thing on this track. U GO GIRL... Much luv..

You wouldn't think with such a mature voice that he's only 15, he sounds soo good. I was very impressed with his vocal ability because lately new artist haven't been showing much talent (Ashanti),but Mario is hot. My favorite songs are C'mon, Braid my hair and Chick with the braids, but all the songs are really good. I wish Mario much success in the future!

I have to admit that when I saw the track listing and saw tracks like "Braid my hair" and "Chick wit da braid" I went, this is a joke, but to my suprise the album is pretty good! "Braid my hair" is so laid back and inviting, and I guess I don't have to say anything 'bout "Just a friend"! "What your name is" is also a good track! This boy can sing and he delivers the the track (What your name is) so magnificently!!! "Could you be" follows in the same mood as "What your name is" and it's a wonderful track!! I love the album and I don't regret for a minute that I bought it!!This boy's gonna shake us all, he has potential, and he's a well apprecited addition in the already overpopulated R&B sector!!

This is a solid first cd. I really enjoyed listening to it. I would have given it five stars if it had more dance beat songs. Most of the songs on this cd are about finding the right gurl and puppy luv, however, don't let this put you off. The songs flow along nicely. Some tracks that really stand out are, Put Me On, Just a Friend, Holla Back, and 2 Train. All in all, Mario, has put out a good first cd. Buy it.
