Nuevo y EXCELENTE,
By Cristian Caceres (Santiago,Chile) - See all my reviews

Maestro!

MAJESTUOSO!,
By Héctor Sotomayor (México) - See all my reviews

if only I could understand the words...,

You may all laugh at this: I am a Silvio fan but I actually know no Spanish. From some of the lyrics I've read of his songs, I know his poetry is extremely eloquent. But most of his albums come without English translation--this one included. So I listen to it much the way I listen to chamber music. And I want to say that even in classical compositions for the voice, it is hard to find something so thoughtful, intelligent, and at the same time stunningly beautiful.

MAESTRÏA....Silvio Maestro...,
By Juan (Santiago, Chile) - See all my reviews

I own almost all of Silvio's albums - he's one of my favorite musicians, with beautiful melodies and music and profound lyrics. This album is amazing in that Rey Guerra's fantastic guitar really adds to Silvio's already intricate songs - some of these are new songs, and some newer versions of old songs such as Dias y Flores. Wow.

not his best,
By
This review is from: Mariposas (Audio CD)
as much as I like Silvio, this is not his best cd.
I've been listening to his songs since I was almost a kid, I learned to play the guitar with his songs and spent long long nights in my teenager years singing under the sky and talking about how to change the world with friends... silvio has great songs, and amazing lyrics of course. Some of the songs in this album are ok, like mariposas and the new version of dias y flores (still, I like better the old version). Anyway, Silvio is still a wonderful singer and composer, his lyrics beautiful and politically compromised. This is not a bad album, but his other works are just great! So, if you are new to silvio, just get some of his old albums which are just great.
