A life's work.,
By
This review is from: Early Maritime Artists of the Pacific Northwest Coast, 1741-1841 (Hardcover)
Some books are knocked out in a few months. Some subjects are assigned to an author. Early Maritime Artists is one of those rare books that is one author's life's work. This subject was John Frazier Henry's passion. If you are interested in the early voyages to the Northwest Coast, or in art, you can't go wrong with this important book. If you want to learn about the art and artists of the early voyages to California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alaska, this is the definitive reference. After you buy this book, consider "The Art of Captain Cook's Voyages: Volume 3, The Voyage of the Resolution and the Discovery, 1776-1780" by Rudiger Joppien & Bernard Smith, which is the definitive reference on the art of Cook's third voyage.
