This review is from: Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings: Sojourner at Cross Creek (Paperback)
I never tire of reading about Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. I loved The Creek by J.T. Glisson and Idella, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' Perfect Maid. And this book, Sojourner at Cross Creek, gives even more details about the interesting life of the author. Anyone who is interested in Marjorie Rawlings books really must go to see her house and farm in Cross Creek, Florida... and by all means, you must read the book Cross Creek before you go!

This review is from: Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings: Sojourner at Cross Creek (Paperback)
If you are interested in the life of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings this book gives good insights. I am fascinated with Florida's history and read "Cross Creek", written by Rawlings. It made me curious enough to visit her historic Florida homestead where the guides recommended that I also read " The Creek" (another good book) which was written by one of her neighbors and a life long resident of the area. I became increasingly interested in Rawlings as a very strong complex person toughing it out in a place and time in Florida's history that, having lived in Florida for a couple of years, I understand and appreciate. This book pulled it all together for me....answered lots of questions that didn't seem to be addressed elsewhere. An easy, enjoyable read.that satisfied my curiosity about her.
