This compilation covers the period 1989 to 1996, so anybody looking for I don't want to miss a thing (from 1999) should look elsewhere (see last paragraph of this review). Instead, what you get here are a dozen brilliant songs, over half of which were #1 country hits, deservedly so.

The best track here is Too cold at home, a real tearjerker of the kind George Jones is remembered for. Mark does this extremely well. Other great ballads here include Ol' country and I'll think of something.

Mark can also do the upbeat songs too, though some of these are actually quite sad, the musical backing hiding what the song is really about. Typical of these is Brother Jukebox, a song first recorded by Don Everly in the mid-seventies, which is about the emptiness of a man's life. Another song in this vein is Going through the Big D, about losing everything in a divorce. Both of these have upbeat, driving music.

Despite a string of #1 hits, Mark never achieved the level of success that some of his contemporaries did. However, he certainly made some great music and this compilation is well worth a listen if you enjoy nineties country, especially if you like Alan Jackson.

A 30-track double CD has now been released featuring all the tracks here plus (among others) I don't want to miss a thing. It is titled Ultimate Collection: Complete Mca Single 1990-2000.

Mark has really done a great job putting this CD together...they are all great country songs. The only problem with this album is it's missing one great song...the song....I just wanted you to know. I'm surprised that Mark would forget such a successful song. However, this song is exceptional...way to go Mark.

This album has some of the best country songs in the business. Mark sings songs straight from his heart. There are songs for every occasion from the slow ballads like "Too cold at home", "I'll think of something else", and "Almost goodbye" to the fast, heels kicking "Bubba shot the jukebox", and "Going through the big 'd'". These songs are about real life realtionships and how they affect the heart. So if you're in the mood to cry about that lost love or smile now that they're gone this is the album for you.

This CD could have been somewhat better. It's missing some of his other hits.Such as "Your Love Is A Miracle","I Just Wanted You To Know" and "She Dreams". This collection should've had at least 14 tracks.I would say, just pass this up and get his "Top Marks" CD.It's an import, but you can still get it on Amazon. It's alot better than this. It's got his first 20 singles on one disc.Get that instead. You'll be glad you did.Trust me.

I have been looking for this CD for about a month or two. I finally found it and I love it in fact I downloaded it to my MP3 player and taking it everywhere I go. Love Mark Chestnut he is a true "country boy" and he hasn't sold out to the "in" crowd, dont get me wrong I love the "new" country ,but Old country is where it is. LOVE IT!!

Mark is my favorite male artist. I absolutely love Mark Chesnutt and think he is the most UNDER RATED male artist. Ever since I saw his video on CMT for "It's a Little Too Late", I can't get enough of his music. I saw him in concert and had the pleasure of meeting him backstage - HE WAS GREAT!! He was the first country artist I bought and now I have all seven of his albums and enjoy listening to all of them. I'm patiently waiting for his next album and hoping he will come out with a Christmas album. I'm hoping he will get recognized for the great music he has recorded. If you like country music you will love any of his albums.

A Kid's Review on April 16, 2007
Format: Audio CD
This is a fine compilation of Mark's hits from 1990-1996. His biggest hits are here, although a few are left off. What is here is some of the best music played on mainstream country radio during the early 1990s. What sets Mark's music apart from that of his contemporaries is his excellent voice and his willingness to keep the music a bit more "country" and a bit less pop than most of his peers.

I can't give this CD 5 stars, though, because it is missing too many of Mark's hits. Chesnutt had 20 top ten hits throughout his career. This CD has only 12 tracks. So -- what is here is excellent, but this CD is missing a good bit.
