1.0 out of 5 stars Don't order this. Return it now!, December 25, 2009
This review is from: Mark Feldstein & Associates XRPV8 Digital Photo Ornament (Red) (Electronics)
Don't buy this and if you did don't open it. Return it now! It's 4:15AM on Christmas morning and I've been trying to get this device to work for almost 2 hours. The software doesn't install on a Mac, meaning the ornament will no connect to your computer. It's weird because I've never had a device not plug-n-play on my Mac, but this piece of garbage doesn't. Everything you've read in the reviews before me are true; software is broken, computer will NOT recognize ornament, screen is super tiny and even the pre-installed photos are washed out and look terrible. Someone should honestly sue this company for false advertising because of the crystal clear picture they use on the box. I will never purchase another Mark Feldstein product. This will be returned to Kohl's on Friday!

1.0 out of 5 stars For those having issues with the software., December 8, 2009
This review is from: Mark Feldstein & Associates XRPV8 Digital Photo Ornament (Red) (Electronics)
I was having issues for 2 days. I refused to give up LOL. This is what I did to get the software to finally stay open. I put the CD and let the software download. Then I put the USB cable into a port in the back of the computer(the front one doesn't work for some reason, makes no sense). I had the camera turned on when I plugged it into the USB port. Then you click the middle button for USB update. I opened the software...it closed right away. I left everything alone for a few minutes, came back opened the software and it stayed opened and I loaded the pictures on the camera. I don't really know how I got it to work, but just make sure you leave the CD in after installing the software. It was such a hassle...I was so upset because I didn't want to go through the trouble of returning it and I am happy to have gotten it working. I will never buy anything from them again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not an easy product to use, December 26, 2009
This review is from: Mark Feldstein & Associates XRPV8 Digital Photo Ornament (Red) (Electronics)
I had many of the same problems experienced by other users in trying to get the photos transferred to the ornament. It should be a simple as plugging it in and dragging photos over and could be an easy thing for the manufacturer to fix. My biggest problems was getting the software working on my laptop. It would flicker on for just a second and then close. The mini-CD would not read in several computers and I had to download the installation software from the [...] web site. The solution I used for getting the photos transferred was to 1) Turn the ornament on so the blue screen appears, 2) plug the ornament end of the USB into the back of the ornament, 3) plug the computer end of the USB into the computer. 3) when the ornament screen showed a message something like "USB update", I pressed the center button on the ornament. The computer then recognized it as a MARS storage device. (But wasn't available as an external disk in My Computer). 5) Opened the software on my laptop and it stayed loaded. The computer software was not as intuitive as it could be, but wasn't bad. In the end, it was not an easy process, and found it very frustrating to use, but(after the photos were transferred) we were satisfied with the product. My rating for this product is a reflection more of the difficulty in setting it up, rather than the quality of the ornament itself. Its not a High-Def device, but is fine for what it is.
