5.0 out of 5 stars Foundational!
I have borrowed this book from a member of my single's group (he is now married) and I stored the book for awhile. 3.0 out of 5 stars A great and Incomplete Beauty
After the disappointment of "Let Me be a Woman" and the disgust I felt at Elliot's words that women are meant to be responders and submitters to masculine authority, I could only imagine what this book told men. I admit I felt very impatient and even resentful of the men who say they love this book; I felt like yelling at them, "Of course you love it! She fills your heads...

This review is from: The Mark of a Man (Paperback)
I have borrowed this book from a member of my single's group (he is now married) and I stored the book for awhile. When I started to get interested in someone, I figured I needed to open this book up and see what Mrs. Elliot had to say. I was very challenged by her very balanced and Biblical view of the roles of men and women. Roles that has been attacked tremendous by the femininist movement and the dogma of 'uni-sex' roles. Mrs Elliot's chapters are very short yet packs a powerful essay on the formula on how to stand up to be a real man for the Lord Jesus Christ in a fallen world. Definitely a book worth investing your time in (male or female).

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless standards, how refreshing!, August 16, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Mark of a Man (Paperback)
"The mark of a man" is a superb book. God's standards for manhood are presented for men and women to read. The book reveals that true manhood is attainable and realistic. Nowadays, the mark between men and women is blurred. This book reafirms the divine difference of men from women. A refreshment in the midst of the confusion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb! God's plan is forever the best., August 15, 2000

This review is from: The Mark of a Man (Paperback)
"The Mark of a Man" is for those who have been wondering like me where are M-E-N. The book is a relief; God's intended role for MEN exists and is not unrrealistic. I recommend the book to men, to see what God invested in them. The book is a confirmation of what I had at the back of my mind. Nowadays, the mark of a man and a woman is blurred, but no longuer so, once you read this book which reaffirms the divine difference between the two sexes. It is a pure refreshment.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you only have enough money for one book......, June 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Mark of a Man (Paperback)
. ........You would do well to buy this one.

God made men and women different. They have inherent differences that are placed in them by God. They are fashioned for different purposes.

This book explains what "runs through the blood of men."

It examines the roles established by God, and joyfully embraces these roles and shows that joy is found in them; for we are fashioned by God to enjoy them.

This is not a book containing a checklist to find the right mate or how to build the perfect marriage--it rises far above such a superficial examination.

This is an examination of Scripture that leads to a deep understanding of the underlying truths concerning what it is that a man is called to be.

It is written in a manner that is conversational and easy to read.

This is "Bedrock."

Don't pass it up!

5.0 out of 5 stars A biblical view on how men and women should interact., April 26, 1999
This review is from: The Mark of a Man (Paperback)
I found this book to be extremely non-PC. Especially since a woman authored it. This is definitely not a book to cater toward modern feminist thinking. I found this book to be a breath of fresh air and a confirmation of what my thoughts already were. It was just odd to actually hear a woman express these viewpoints so candidly without shame. I applaud her. A must read for the not too-easily offended! Heck, maybe they should read it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, April 9, 2004
This review is from: The Mark of a Man (Paperback)
This book was awesome. I cannot say enough good things. Elisabeth Elliot is a woman of wisdom and insight. It was like having my grandmother sit me down and talk to me about the kind of man I need to be. She is a wealth of ideas, principles, and ways of Living. She has walked the walk and knows God. She was married to a great man of God.

This is a must read. If you are a man...but it. If you are a woman buy it for the man or boy in your life.

This book is perfect for anyone who is dating/courting or looking forward to a future romance. Not only because it will give you a sense for what Christians are looking for in a spouse, but because it will convict you to understanding the standards of Christian living. More than man's version of Passion & Purity, this book is the "how-to" guide for growing into whatever role God has given you!

Hear from a Godly woman's point of view, (which in her case is also a Biblical point of view) of what it means to be a man. A must read for young men!
