Absolute Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mark Schultz (Audio CD)
This album is the absolute best!!!!! Certainly one of my favorites!!!!!!!1. "I Am The Way" 10/10. A great uplifting song about how you can rely on God and how He can lead you. 2. "Let's Go" 9/10. Pretty good. All about finding yourself and God. 3. "He's My Son" 11/10! A beautiful sad song written from the point of view of the father of a child with leukemia. Mmmm...it made me cry. So sad, so lovely . . . 4. "When You Come Home" 10/10. Another slower song about the relationship between mother and son, mixing heaven in the middle. Lovely. I played Tracks 3 and 4 for my mother when she was cooking dinner, and the meal was a tad salty because she was crying by the end of the two. 5. "When You Give" 10/10. Back to the upbeat songs. This one's all about how God doesn't care what color a person is. Really fun with the whole ~Take Me To The River~ parts toward the end. 6. "Fall In Love Again" 7/10. Not my favorite, I usually skip it. Still, it's pretty enough. 7. "Cloud Of Witnesses" 10/10. Back to a somewhat slower song about watching children grow and how God watches and cares for us. Lovely. A favorite of mine. Makes me want to be a teacher. 8. "Learn To Let Go" 9/10. A pretty, slower song about a father who's remembering how his child grew up. Makes me think of the songs a father and daughter dance to when she's gotten married. 9. "I Saw The Light" 9/10. Cool, kinda funky. A jamaican sort-of beat. An upbeat Amazing Grace part filters through. Fun. 10. "Legend Of McBride" 10/10. About a peaceful authority figure who saves a child from a fire, sacrificing his life for the baby's. Fun. 11. "Remember Me" 10/10. Mmmm, beautiful slow song telling people to remember me/him/whoever and asking that Jesus remember him. Lovely. All in all, this is definitly one of my favorite albums. Great soulful, comforting music. I always come out of hearing Mark Schultz feeling good. He has a gift. This isn't Christian rock or punk, but it's still good. It's kinda like Steven Curtis Chapman. Lots of love, guys. Thanks for reading this.

Mark Schultz "He's my Son",
By
This review is from: Mark Schultz (Audio CD)
This song is one of Mark Shultz' best, he has so many good songs, but this one really reaches deep down into your heart and touches you. Although you don't see the progression of this father son relationship it is obvious from the lyrics that this father was a good dad who spent time with his son and nurtured their relationship as a father should. The care, love, and compassion that this father shows for his child who is dying of Luekemia is the same love that Jesus speaks of in the gospel of John. In the song, after explaining the suffering his son is going through he pleads with God to "Let me take his place somehow" It says in the bible in John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." It is so refreshing to hear a song that expresses the great love a father has for his son and to know that God the father loves us in the very same way. Jesus layed down his life for us and that is the greatest love of all.

I first became familiar with the music of Mark Schultz when I heard "Remember Me" at a friend's wedding. Shortly thereafter, I bought this album and have since become a big Mark Schultz fan.
My favorite songs are "He's My Son," "Legend of McBride," and "Remember Me," though several others are also fantastic. Schultz has a great voice, fantastic abilities on the piano, and a brilliant mind for songwriting. I have enjoyed more recent releases of his on the radio. I would recommend this album to anyone.

Emotional CD,

This is truly a great CD. I've had this CD for a few weeks now, and I love this CD. I would have to say my favorite song on this CD is " He's My Son". I love that song, a very emotional song that I'm sure will reach the heart of anyone who listens. When You Come Home is also another favorite of mine on this CD, great song with emotion. The song, Remember Me, was played at my church's service for the graduating seniors, while their pictures were in a power-point presentation. I think it's a great song to play at graduation, weddings, you know, when a young person moves on to that next stage in their lives. I'm a teenager myself, and I hope that song plays at my graduation. Overall, this is an awesome album, and Mark Schultz is a great musician. If you're looking for emotional songs to reach your heart, Mark Schultz's songs will do just that.

Friends of mine bought tickets for all of us to see Mark Schultz about 5 years ago. I had no idea who he was, only that he was a "new" Contemporary Christian musician. I cringe at that label, because there is so much garbage out there that calls itself "Christian". I figured that I ought to know the songs, so I took a listen at the samples on Amazon. Even from those short snippets, I knew he was something special. I ran out the same day and bought the CD. Every song is worth listening to! I love his mastery of the piano, and his voice is incredible. He is one of those rare songwriting masters, also. He can tell a great story in his music, and not only are you wanting to hear the music, you'll find yourself dying to know how the story ends. He'll make you laugh and cry. This CD is not to be missed; and I don't just mean for Christian music fans, either!

His lyrics...the emotion he puts into each and every song...I have cried on so many occasions listening to some of his songs...and the lyrics hit so close to home. This man is a wonderful artist.

This group of songs that Mark not only played, but mastered, I must admit reflects how truely blessed each and every person is. He reminds us through his music that there is a deep love that God created that we each hold. This love is what we are to be guided by, in times of sorrow, frustration and happiness. The love that Mark has that helped him put this music together, is the same love that we are to bless others with as a result of listening. Thank you Mark, and most of all, thank you God.

If you like MWS, buy this!,

Just imagine the quality you get, not only in lyrics, but the way that Michael W. Smith layers his music. Sometimes you could just curl up inside of them. Mark Shultz, amazingly, has this same quality. A little on the sad-side sometimes. Where MWS keeps it sweet--a lot about his children-- Mark Shultz goes to the other side of that and goes for the tears, but not from happiness. Some of his stories are sad and that's okay too. There's a place for it. You'll also find some uptempo stuff, but to me, it never really has the weight of his heartfelt and slower stuff. Only on his new album, does he really have an uptemo winner "Running Just To Catch Myself". But we're talking about this CD. Buy it to listen to alone. Buy it to remember someone...and gently be reminded of God's love in it all and how it's not always going to be easy. Not as polished (or as produced) as MWS, but it's so very close. Maybe I should put it like this. If you're not afraid to feel your own heart, buy this CD. Enjoy!Scott |
