About the Author

Born in the late 60's, KateMarie has lived most of her life in the Pacific NW. While she's always been creative, she didn't turn towards writing until 2008. She found a love for the craft. With the encouragement of her husband and two daughters, she started submitting her work to publishers. When she's not taking care of her family, KateMarie enjoys attending events for the Society for Creative Anachronism. The SCA has allowed her to combine both a creative nature and love of history. She currently resides with her family and three cats in what she likes to refer to as "Seattle Suburbia".

I received this book for a honest review. Mark of the Successor is worth a second read. The story is easy to read and it can definitely be finished in one sitting. Kate Marie Collins draws you from the beginning of page 1. The good and bad characters were believable and you want to know about them.

At the beginning you are horrified and feel sorry for Lily and towards the end you are cheering her on as she gets her own style of justice.

All and all a great read. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for heroine who ends up overcoming her fear and uses her life experiences to help her grow and adapt to a life she never dreamed of.

Normally I'm not a huge Fantasy reader. But I'm very pleased to have found Mark of the Successor. Ms. Collins has the ability to take a hard to convince fiction reader like me and make the unbelievable real. I loved the characters, both the good and the bad. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I completely recommend this book to anyone who wants to take a trip into a land of good Queens and evil noblemen. You will enjoy every word.

Lily’s abusive mother, Erena, kept the child out of school and obedient so Lily would remain ignorant and submissive. Fortunately, Mama was reported. Soon Lily was boarding the big yellow school bus like the other kids.

Years later, Lily understood the value of an education and the vast list of faults she had to side step in dealing with Mama. Then, as her 18th birthday appeared on the calendar, Erena introduced Lily to a man more evil than she—Heren.

The next day a couple seemingly appears out of nowhere to rescue Lily from Heren’s clutches. The Cinderella girl soon learns that Heren, Erena, and her saviors are “not of this world” and neither is she.

Thus begins KateMarie Collins’ novel, The Mark of the Successor. With a descriptive writing style that brings her settings alive and excellent character development, the author tells a magical story about a coming of age teen, her new found responsibilities, and a love interest—all of which will change her Cinderella life forever.

Michael Thal is the author of Goodbye Tchaikovsky, the story of a deaf teen violinist.

I will be recommending this book to all my friends!

Katemarie Collins has created a cast of characters that cannot be forgotten! At the beginning you feel sorry for Lily, but you get the feeling there is more to her. Thus begins a journey that will keep you riveted. I read this in one sitting, and it left me wanting more...more of this story, and definitely more from this talented author.

This story kept my interest, so I gave it a good rating. The characters were intriguing, and I find myself wishing to know more about some of them. There was an inconsistency that my ocd brain wouldn't let go of for the entire story. The age of the main character jumps. Overall, I enjoyed this story and would recommend it!
