One of the great debates of Twain scholarship is the influence of Olivia, his wife, on his work. I think Twain was madly in love with Livy; during their courtship, he repeatedly professed that he was trying to get religion, which pleased her to no end. I leave it to others to judge the sincerity of these assertions.

There are several places to go if you want to read the non-Livy Twain: His Letters; surviving Newspaper Articles; Pieces written after Livy's passing; and these Notebooks. If you have read his major and most of his minor works, here is some fresh meat for Mark Twain fanatics.
