Long before reading anything by the famous economist Ludwig Von Mises, I had read all of Ayn Rand's books. After reading this short volume I understood where Ayn Rand got many of her capitalism and free market ideas.

Unfortunately, most college students today never read anything but books written by far left economic professors who believe in socialism. The result is a whole society who accepts consciously or unconsciously the false premises of Marxism when it comes to basic economics and society. The "occupy Wall Street protesters" are perfect examples of the influence far left college professors had on these confused people. Instead of blaming the real culprits of our failing economy, which is the government and their far left entitlement schemes, they blame capitalism.

This is a book every high school and college student should read, along with Ludwig Von Mises other books and lectures. This book contains Von Mises seminar lecture series and includes: Economics and its opponents, Pseudo-science and historical understanding, Acting man and economics, Marxism, socialism and pseudo-science, Capitalism and human progress, Money and inflation, the gold standard, Money, Credit, and the business cycle, the business cycle and beyond.

This volume explains clearly the relationship between socialism, communism and Nazism and how they all accept the false premise that collectivism, rather than individualism, is the fuel which guides society toward prosperity. This is why so many people today believe in big government who will take care of them from cradle to grave, rather than the power of individualism and capitalism.

In conclusion, this is an important book because it contains intellectual ammunition against the propaganda of far left socialist ideas.
