This review is from: Market and Society in Korea: Interest, Institution and the Textile Industry (Routledge Advances in Korean Studies) (Hardcover)
I am writing my thesis on the textile and apparel industry in Italy and South Korea, analyzing differences and similarities, as well as managerial, marketing and labor aspects. This book is very well written and analyzes in depth how the South Korean industry developed itself from the 50s and the close relationship between government and companies-conglomerates "Chaebols" dominating the textile industry. It's the perfect book to start studying about the textile industry in a "newly-developed" Asian country. I personally have been to South Korea last semester, because I won a scholarship, so I've studyied and lived there for 4 months in order to gather informations for my thesis. I also visited some textile companies and interviewed with some managers who told me their personal experience and facts about the industry development. Most of the information Ihave been given is contained in this book "Market and Society in Korea".
