1.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre Volume with TERRIBLE Customer Service from Publisher!!, September 17, 2005
By
This review is from: Marketing Your Creative Portfolio (Paperback)
I am a professor of art (26 years of teaching experience; national artistic reputation) who attempted to use this book as a text in a capstone course (for senior art majors) which I teach at a private liberal arts college. The volumes shipped to us were bound at the top rather than at the sides of the pages, (yet the pages were printed for side binding) making them ridiculously impossible to use. The publisher's representatives said they would "look into it," and you can guess what THAT ended up being: NOTHING. No apologies, no refunds, absolutely nothing. My students were out the price of the worthless books, and we went to other sources for the semester's work.

The book itself is full of mediocre writing, with typographical and grammatical errors, design and typesetting inconsistencies, and inept cartoons. Many pages are checklists and self-assessments which are basic and for the most part, unnecessary.

You'll get more effective and helpful career advice from websites than you'll get from this clunker. Note: I had to give this a one-star rating because there was no negative-star option.

2.0 out of 5 stars Marketing is the optimal word here!, September 24, 2004
This review is from: Marketing Your Creative Portfolio (Paperback)
The book is informative however terribly boring and has a lack of design and no imagery (besides bad cartoons). Marketing your creative portfolio shows no visual examples nor does the title or nice cover really depict the real aspects of the book. I would not recommend the book for anything other than simple marketing ideas and basic information structure. the book however would be good for a High School based program needing some multiple choice / fill in the blank questions for the students to start out with. I had higher expectations and it didn't come close to delivering.
