5.0 out of 5 stars Innovative and Exceptional, June 7, 2000
By A Customer
I have always wanted to operate a business out of my house. With this book I now have the tools to do it successfully! Many books talk about starting and managing a business from home, but this is the only one I've seen that specifically talked about *marketing* from home, offering hundreds of ideas on using technology, conducting mailing campaigns, designing literature, and quite a few other areas. The author is obviously very knowledgeable and has an easy way with words, because this is also a "good read".

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real guide, July 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Marketing for the Home-Based Business (Paperback)
I like this book because it strips away the illusion of what it takes to be effective marketing from home. Many books talk about setting up your office, designing stationary, and all kinds of blather that really doesn't bring in a dime unless you have a coordinated marketing effort behind it. The chapters on using the Internet to market you, using the telephone, and better employing your fax machine were very meaty.

5.0 out of 5 stars "The Key to Prosperity in your Home-Based Business", February 3, 1999

From the foreword to "Marketing for the Home-Based Business"

The explosive growth of home-based businesses across America and throughout the world is one of the most exciting developments of the late twentieth and early twenty-first century. With this development comes the potential for renewed strength of the family, of communities, and greater financial well-being for more people. The home-based business phenomena in America is not new. Prior to World War II, most people maintained a home-based business in one form or another. The farmer set up an office in the kitchen, on the dining room table, or in the spare room in the back of the house. Often, the entrepreneurial merchant lived upstairs or right next to his establishment. Long before the K-Marts and Walmarts of the world, the mom and pop grocery store, the five-and-dime department store, and the corner service station flourished.

Today, as one spectacular technological breakthrough after another occurs, home-based business entrepreneurs have the means to be more effective working from home than one could have even imagined twenty years ago. As you're about to see in Marketing for the Home-based Business, the opportunity to market your home-based business effectively is limited only by your imagination. As Jeff Davidson shows you in chapter after chapter, regardless of the size of your office, the nature of your business, and the resources you have at hand, you have many options when it comes to marketing your business effectively.

Jeff explains how to use the telephone effectively and why so many entrepreneurs don't use the telephone to its full advantage. You'll learn how to use the Internet to make money; how to leverage your professional relationships, why it's so important to use part-time help, and dozens of other profit building ideas. I am a home-based business entrepreneur myself, operating a virtual office. I have nearly two dozen employees and contacts worldwide. I continually stay in touch by phone, fax, and modem. These ideas really work!

Marketing for the Home-based Business is a practical, down-to-earth, "here's how you do it" guidebook. It speaks to you in straightforward, everyday language. Jeff's writing style makes it seems as if he's speaking to you as a friend, right across the table from you. He often anticipates that questions you want to ask. The suggestions he offers are both easy to understand and easy to follow.

Whether you've just launched a home-based venture or have been in business for years, you'll find this book to be just what the doctor ordered, if your goal is to effectively market your home-based business, not pay a fortune in doing so, and still have a home life. Use this book to rearrange your office or your whole orientation to marketing. Refer to it again and again for the ideas and insights presented on each page. Continually delve into it to inspire yourself to action and to propel your business forward.

There has never been a better time to be in business for yourself and to be working out of your home. With this valuable guidebook, you will save a lot of time and money in getting up to speed and moving toward financial independence.
