Same as Hardcover Edition, minus the weight,
By
This review is from: Marketing Loose-leaf Edition (Loose Leaf)
If all textbooks had a loose-leaf edition I would be a very happy student. All the pages are colored and numbered the same as in the hardcover edition. The best to note is that they are hole-punched and not binded, so you are able to just take the relevant chapters to class- no weight hassle.
As for content, I used this textbook for my Intro to Marketing class and plan on keeping it for future reference. It's good to note, that though this is the 10th edition, other students in the class used the 8th and 9th edition as well, but they were still the same price or more expensive than the loose-leaf edition of the 10th edition.

I ordered the loose leaf version. Great item. Half the price of the hardcover.
It gets one star removed because the cover claims to have a code card to access the online section but it seems to be absent

Marketing 9th Edition is a very good book for any marketing/business student. The book is up to date and very informative. I wish that the videos could be seen by students at home instead of in a class setting.

The book is fine. It has some writting and highlights but it is readable. That was what the seller posted, so I expected it.
The book arrived in short time in good conditions and very well packed. No complains about that.I have not read the book totally it is going to be for my next course in Fall 2011. But that is the one the professor asked so, I order it in advance to have an idea about the subject. Thanks.

A good book overall. Plenty of detail, links to reference websites, real-world examples. A bit overpriced.

I received my Marketing Loose-leaf Edition NEW and in a timely manner. I was not expecting the RETRO 1-1/2" 3 Ring Binder that came with it. That was a plus!

A very good initial marketing text,

A very good beginning text for marketing classes. Some of the concepts could have been explained a little better. The profiles of real businesses that are featured do help illustrate the concepts. It has easy to read print and the illustrations are great too.

Saved a bunch.,

I saved quite a bit of money by buying this loose leaf edition on Amazon rather than buying the book from my campus bookstore. It arrived right on time and was in perfect condition!

The Intended Audience...,

I didn't really think this book revealed anything that was a surprise for someone at the intermediate marketing level. For example, the idea that if you give a product a bad name it will not sell is sort of like....no duh George! It did give some good advice on how to name products. For example, keep it short and simple and try to come up with something that is easy to memorize. Like Coke, 4 letters, or Pepsi, 5 letters. Creating a single syllable name is usually better than creating a name that is 2 syllables or more.
Take for example YouTube. Now instead of using "you", let's say that YouTube made the mistake that most newbie marketers make by trying to make their business or service sound bigger than it actually is. They could have used "universal" as in UniversalTube. Here you have a 4 syllable word that just doesn't sound as good as the short and simple "you". Would YouTube have grown to a billion dollar company if it was originally called UniversalTube? Marketing statistics say probably not. This reminds me of another point which is to try and always use the word "you" in your sales copy instead of the word "us" or "we". This book is great as an introduction to marketing, a kind of survey of what marketing is and what it is not. As far as practical, step by step application of the principles discussed within this book, I think it falls short. However, I don't think that was the original intention of the publisher. I think this book is aimed at college students and is meant more as a survey of the topic of marketing and not so much something that you would take and immediately use for your own business (i.e. most college students haven't even held a steady job for long let alone own their own business so it makes sense). The book is a bit pricey but overall it is a good introduction to marketing. From the author of Internet Marketing-Profits That Lie Hidden In Your Website: How To Triple Your Web Sales In 25 Days |
