- Press releases do you need to use a PR company?
- Adverts/brochures do you need to use a design house?
- Web site do you need to use a web design company?
- Mailshots do you need to use a mailing house?
If youre outsourcing any of the above ask yourself if you need to, then read on. If youre not even doing any of the above then get ready to increase your business! In addition to showing you what you can take control of yourself, I also wanted to demonstrate how tasks that you may already be doing in-house could be done better, quicker and more cost-effectively, and to give guidance on what works and what doesnt this is exceptionally useful if, for example youre branching out into new areas such as trade shows and dont know where to start. There are also other practices, such as viral marketing, which cost next to nothing to set up but can yield untold benefits.
I hope this book will give you guidance either through some of the business practices I suggest or the real-world examples I have used myself or admired of others. If just one of them works for you then Ive justified your outlay for this book. If nothing else, remember to have fun this will come across in everything you do

This really helped me promote my mail order business,
By A Customer
This review is from: Marketing Your Business (Paperback)
I run a two-man telesales mail order business. I bought this book because it seemed to be backed by some pretty big companies (Saachi & saachi, Virgin, Macromedia, Adobe and Sage according to the back cover), but despite this it has loads of advice for the smaller retailer. This book is two books in one - the first half teaches you the theory. For me the best chapter was dealing with the press. This shows you that it's relatively easy to get free coverage in magazines. The second half of the book has practical guides - again the chapter on writing press releases was excellent. It literally takes you step by step to writing a press release, right down to how to phrase the title and how the final document should be formatted. There is also a CD-ROM on the back. Although most of the software that's on there you'll find on the cover disc of most magazines there were a couple of jewels. There are also some tutorial videos (although there should have been a few more in my opinion). If you run your own business are are look at ways to produce more material in-house but are not sure how to go about it I don't think you can go far wrong with this book.
