5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource
This book is an excellent resource. I am the business manager and wife of a physician with a fairly new solo practice. I stay busy implementing many of the simple, practical recommendations in this book. Not only have we increased volume and income, but our office runs more smoothly. Thanks, Dr. Baum.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good book, but not as good as prior editions
I had a chance to listen Dr. Baum's seminars and presentations. I also have the 3rd edition of this book. I am his fan. He is a smart marketing person.

However, the fouth edition of his book is not the same as priors were. Simply, this book is to long and not to the point. I purchased it, hoping to get some valuable, new information or help, but did not find...

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding, December 30, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Neil Baum's book contains the sum of all other advice that I had ever heard before I bought it and I was surprised how much more it contains. No wonder nobody recommended it to me. Every resident should receive it as a graduation gift from her or his program director. It is an absolut must for private practice. Consultants are not going to tell you more than what you will read in this book, they just charge you 20 times as much. The single most valuable book for marketing your own practice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book to ethically promote your medical practice., May 16, 1999
By A Customer
Unless you are a pathologist with only slides or dead patients, you must have Dr. Baum's book. It is the only medical marketing book written by a private practicing physician. Baum knows "what works" and "what doesn't"; he's been in the trenches of medical practice and has done it and can tell you how to do it ethically, effectively, and economically. Dr. Robert Kotler, M.D., F.A.C.S.

5.0 out of 5 stars phenomenal value, inspiring, January 21, 2008

walktowork (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews
What I find refreshing and inspiring about Baum's book is that how it shows that devotion and attention to patient needs can guide you to satisfaction and success as a physician. Not only is Baum's book jam packed with ideas, concrete examples, and forms you can use, it was filled with personal anecdotes making it very readable. I like how he describes his initial mistakes or ineffective techniques, then identifies and changes his practices to provide a better service.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must For Physicians, June 15, 2000
By
John McDaniel (New Orleans, LA) - See all my reviews
We recommend Dr. Baum's book, "Marketing Your Clinical Practice" to all of our medical practices, particularly physicians who are starting up a new practice.

Dr. Baum's tips on non traditional sources of referrals are outstanding and his book complements our philosophy, that being effective management equals good manners plus common sense.

We would highly recommend this book to any physician in need of enhancing his/her patient volume.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent marketing guide for healthcare practice, November 18, 2007
This book is written for you if you don't want to hire a marketing specialist or to spend thousands of hours re-inventing solid methods to keep the patients you already have and to attract new patients. Using numerous examples and clear explanations, Dr. Baum shows how to discover patient retention problems early, how to turn negatives into positives, and how to manage your reception area and improve your compliance, including such details as an office video. The book also lists various networking methods, teaches marketing to various ethnic and age groups, and covers a full spectrum of marketing media, including newsletters, yellow pages, websites, e-consults, referrals, and speeches.

Informative and well-organized, this is an excellent marketing guide for any healthcare practice. Read it and keep it near for reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to be your best, September 10, 2007
I picked this up originally on a hospital library display wondering what could I learn about marketing MY practice. This book has practical, down-to-earth and simple ( and economic) tools to help find your referral sources and how to reach them to promote your practice. It does what it sets out to do and then some.
I will reread this book, share it with my practice manager, partners etc so they can all realize how we each market our practice every day.
I feel that it contains useful information for practices of ANY size, ANY specialty any locale.
After reviewing the book, reading the beginning chapters and a few of particular interest, I realized I needed my own copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Baum's book is full of practical suggestions., March 30, 1999
By A Customer
Marketing Your Clinical Practice is full of practical suggestions that can be implemented at little or no cost, and that guarantee customer satisfaction. Illustrations and examples included in Dr. Baum's book are entertaining and useful; he covers marketing techniques not found in other publications, such as support groups, public speaking, and office staff networking. Literally hundreds of ideas are presented. If all practices used Dr. Baum's suggestions, patients would be happy to go to the doctor!
