5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, textbook and reference., July 24, 2007
This review is from: Mark's Calculations For Machine Design (Hardcover)
This book is so far one of the best technical books, I've ever had.
The material is so well presented and organized, that it is hard to find in any other books.
The author has presented the material with clarity, conciseness and problems that logically follow the material.
It is a very good material for mechanical engineers preparing in Machine Design portion of PE exam.

I hope the author has in mind to create books like this for ohter mechanical engineering related disciplines, like thermo and fluids.

I'd say this is a must book for every single mechanical engineer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who writes rave reviews for calculations?, March 27, 2011

This review is from: Mark's Calculations For Machine Design (Hardcover)
Who writes rave reviews for a book of calculations. Well, apparently, I do.

In school, I never had any trouble with the work, but I always lost credit for failure to show my work. If I made a mistake, I would never get partial credit for showing my work -- especially my units.

I am in a job that requires extensive documentation of every engineering decision. I am REQUIRED to show my work. I can't just 'know' that something is all right, I have to prove it.

Mark's makes showing your work a delight. Each calculation is extremely well presented in an easy to follow, step by step presentation. It is, in fact, presented in the same worked out format that a typical calculation sheet would be. Even better -- it has metric AND AMERICAN examples. Hey textbook writers! WE are still in the United States here! HELLO!

By the same people who gave us Mark's Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers, and even more indispensable. I took 3 or 5 other books back home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Technical Reference for Students and Professors, December 27, 2010

This review is from: Mark's Calculations For Machine Design (Hardcover)
This book is an excellent reference Machine Design, Materials and Materials Strength. The context is appropriate to both sides of academy, to those students who want a powerful tool, adding knowledge on these disciplines or even to professors which can take advantage of the theory simpler given. Complementary exercises are an interesting plus to guide to robustness. In the Professor's case, he can teach simple and open up for questionings which rise up, those which can be explored deeper by the professor's knowledge.
